When 70 is kinda sexy...

Pud delegations Mar 2021.gif

It's the third month of the first quarter of the year. By the time we power up on 1 April, a quarter of the year will be gone. I don't wish it to be gone. So far, this year is shaping up to be everything last year was not. And more. I digress. As usual.

@traciyork, in her official winners list following this month's Power Up Day, reported on yet another month's success -

  • 142 posts on the 1st tagged with #HivePUD and/or #HPUD.
  • 131 people who powered up and posted on the 1st using #HivePUD and/or #HPUD, with 66 of those qualifying for prizes.
  • 40,236 Hive (worth approx $12,473 USD) powered up from Hive Power Up Day participants during the hours of the first via their local time.
  • 166,380 Hive (worth approx $51,577 USD) powered up by 379 people during the 24 hour UTC time set to earn @hivebuzz badges (check out their awesome Feedback from the March 1st Hive Power Up Day post for more info).

Two milestones

When I announced a couple of changes to the criteria for accounts winning the prizes I sponsor for Power Up Day, I also marked a milestone in my blockchain journey: 4,000 HP. All earned from activity (blogging and participating in the odd initiative, and no gaming) on the blockchain. In the subsequent twelve days, I've added another 300 HP. That's whopping 25HP a day, achieved mostly by following my own strategy, and which I discussed at some length when I hit 3,000HP on powering up - just three months ago - in December 2020.

In summary -

  1. I post regularly. I try to post every day. I try not to do what I consider really sh*tposts. Each generally has at least 150 - 200 words and a photograph or two; they really are a (web)log or diary of events in and around my life. I do like longer, more reflective posts, but those take a long time to do - usually as much as 8 or 9 hours (plus research in some instances and re-drafting).
  2. I comment on posts that resonate for me. I don't do as much of this as I'd like for reasons I've explained. What I always do is reply to comments on my posts and reply to replies. Not ad nauseum, but until the conversation reaches its logical conclusion.
  3. I do make use of a fan base. Because I am AFK and I have a select bunch of accounts I like supporting for a range of reasons and which enables me to curate. I do update it from time to time, adjusting the accounts, the size and frequency of the vote.
  4. I have delegated to accounts that give me a daily return; and finally
  5. As time allows, I participate in initiatives and competitions that can potentially earn me Hive.

Late last year, I estimated that I'd hit 5,000 HP by September. This trajectory of 25HP a day suggests that I should reach that target in the next 26 days. I do have to acknowledge, though, that just under 162 HP did com from using a teeny weeny bit of HBD to buy Hive. For the first time in more than a year because I've had to save my liquid HBD; I have drawn some of it because of the Covid rainy days, but as I said when I powered up, if things in RL continue on their current trajectory, I may buy more hive and reach that milestone by April. But let me not get ahead of myself.

Didn't she say that there were two milestones?

You're all familiar with the two digits that are next to our Hive handles. There is some dispute about how useful they are I don't really understand what "reputation" means on the blockchain, but I do remember being somewhat in awe of those accounts that had a sassy 70 next to their names. It's taken me 43 months (48 moons) to achieve this. I never thought I'd claim 70, but I am!! It's a really sexy number!

I do remember being a redfish

My entry into the Hive was when it was in its other, more watery iteration. I flapped and floundered and buried myself in the mud for about six months before emerging and trying to swim. Anyhow, it's because of that experience, and the people who helped me, as well as in celebration of my third anniversary on the blockchain, last July, that I started offering three, 100HP delegations for three weeks each month to accounts that meet the criteria I have set. I do know that every little helps, and this is my way of paying it back forward. It's been a learning curve, and the criteria have been tweaked because of the type of accounts that participate in Hive Power Up Day:

Criteria for winning a 100HP delegation for a month
  • accounts must meet the base criteria for Hive Power Up Day as set out in Traci's post
And accounts must
  • be less than 6 months old
  • have at least two qualifying posts since the previous power up day. Posts that qualify must have 200 words or more and exclude posts for Power Up Day, and Actifit.
As a reminder, the reason I added the second criterion is because -
Hive is a social blockchain: it's for socialising, ruminating and just generally hanging out.
  • a reputation of less than 61
  • not more than 500 HP in their accounts before they power up - both on the first of the month
and

If fewer than three accounts meet the criteria, the delegation will be allocated either

March delegations

With that in mind, and after hearing from the awesomsauce Traci, that this month, there were no qualifying accounts, I -

  • visited @minnowsupport's #inroduceyourself curation post from 11 days ago, penned by the fabulous @victoriabsb who also manages the Spanish Power Up Day initiative, and
  • selected three of those accounts that meet the criteria I have set (other than those associated with powering up on the first of each month), to which I
  • delegated 100 Hive.

So for the next 21 or so days, @pashinni, @finguru and @spacethan will also receive a 100% upvote from me, and while the delegation remains active. I will also, when time permits, visit their blogs and say "hi!".

Here's proof of delegation:

I do hope that all three of you will join the Hive Power Up Day initiative, details of which you will find by following @traciyork, @victoriabsb and/or following #hivepud and #hpud.

Before closing

For those who have been asking about the RL work developments, developing they are. Almost exponentially. It is, though, a little pre-emptive for me to elaborate on things. Things are settling and maturing. As with good wine and cheese, and a great stew, good flavours things take time and patience to develop to a point when they can be shared. Suffice it to say, that I am gainfully occupied, which is keeping me out of mischief and mostly AFK - as far as my blockchain activity is concerned.

Until next time, be well
