Hello Hivers, how is it going for you all? Last week I told you about how I got rid of my stress and found comfort in works of art.
Well, over the weekend, things got really crazy for me. From lecturers setting impossible tasks to my fellow students and to my lodge. I just needed to get away from it all. And where did I find myself? Yes, you guessed it! I found myself in the midst of more works of art, done by students of my school, the Federal Polytechnic Nekede.
The first one I got to see was the statue of a mask. I couldn't help but relate with the symbolism of this message. At one point of our lives, we must wear masks. Either to hide our tears or our joys. I speak from experience.
Next to see was the statue of a mason working hard with his mallet and chisel. To me, it symbolized the constant struggle we had to endure in our search for a better life. And everyday, I pray that in our struggle, we do not forget the reason we work so hard.
Another statue was the one of phones. These giant GSMs made of stone. The inventions of phones is also a giant leap. I see these statues as a symbol for transformation. These are statues of GSMs, but these days GSM is all but forgotten. But we all know there was a time they were hot cake. It all has to do with the passage of time. Everything has it's seasons. Don't just wait for yours, prepare for it. So when it comes, you'll be ready.
And finally, I took pictures with these statues built against the wall. They were of men and women playing musical instruments and dancing. It is one that brings peace to my mind whenever I see it. I'm a lover of music and dance, even though I can't do either. Lol. I prefer listening to the music and watching those that can do the dance. Hehe...
These statues are symbolic, having meanings unique to everyone who sees them. Unique even to the one the creators might have had. I believe that how one interpretes these works tells a lot about the kind of person one is. In this vein, I feel like I've shared a vital part of myself with you.
It's already midweek, and stress is sure to return. I'll try to relax. Because a relaxed mind works way better than a stressed mind. And it's better for health too.
Have you also been stressed of late? What measures do you use to relieve them? I'll like to know.
Thank you for reading.
