Inspired by the famous book LAS BALEARES that was written by the Austrian archduke Luis Salvador who visited this Island of Mallorca on his yacht to study beetles, although his interests covered various subjects. This book represents the most important work on the island. The archduke fell in love with the island due to its nature, its gardens, its view of the Mediterranean Sea and extraordinary landscapes. For this reason, it bought the property along with most of the land and possessions between Valldemossa and Deià, carried out major transformations and gave the house a structure architectural of a palace with a lot of character and a new view of the gardens, and of course the construction of the famous viewpoint of the carrara marble temple, despite this the archduke was a very humble person and had no complex of greatness but a lot of love for what he knew in Mallorca, all this gives rise to Son Marroig, a tourist site par excellence full of history and very visited by national and foreign tourists who visit Mallorca. When the archduke died, the house passed into the hands of his secretary Antonio Vives, whose descendants are the current owners.

Every year the prestigious Deià International Music Festival is held, it holds classical music concerts from April to October in SON MARROYG, one of the most spectacular places on the island.
