DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
As i am apparently the only Dominican in Hive, or at least i haven't met any others yet. This post will not be about the region where i live, it will be about the whole country.
REPUBLICA DOMINICANA
Como aparentemente soy la única dominicana en Hive, o al menos no he conocido ningún otro todavía. Este post no va a ser sobre la región donde vivo, va a ser del país completo.

The Dominican Republic is located in the American continent, in the central region, also called the Caribbean, on the island of Hispaniola, sharing territory with Haiti.
In the map above we see the area marked in brown is the territory of Haiti, and the area marked in yellow is the Dominican Republic.
República Dominicana está ubicada en el continente Americano, en la región central, también llamado como El Caribe, en la isla de La Española, compartiendo territorio con Haití.
En el mapa de arriba vemos la zona marcada de marrón es el territorio de Haití, y la zona marcada de amarillo es la República Dominicana.

A little of history...
In the year 1492, the island was colonized by the Spaniards, according to them "discovered", they were in charge of destroying the Tainos that ALREADY LIVED on the island, exploiting the resources and creating the first cities. The image above is the Colonial City, located in the capital of the Republic, where the first cathedral, the first fortress (the one in the photograph) and the first university are located. The city is still preserved as a Cultural Heritage Site.
When the Tainos were no longer able to work, they brought in, African slaves to work the land. At another time, the same Haitians (neighbors) invaded us, they had French influence, and on another occasion we were even intervened by the United States... until we were able to become independent in 1844 thanks to Juan Pablo Duarte and today we can be called the Dominican Republic.
But don't worry, there are no hard feelings. On the contrary, we have adopted many of the customs and have forged our identity from their cultures... for example, we have Spanish as our main language, English as our second, and many of us learn French. The majority of the population is Catholic with Spanish descent. And thanks to this, today we receive people from all over the world, from China and Japan to Venezuela and Colombia.
Un poco de historia...
En el año 1492, la isla fue colonizada por los españoles, según ellos "descubierta", ellos se encargaron de destruir los taínos que YA VIVIAN en la isla, explotar los recursos y crear las primeras ciudades. La imagen de arriba es la Ciudad Colonial, ubicada en la capital de la República, donde está la primera catedral, la primera fortaleza (la de la fotografía) y la primera universidad. Todavía se conserva la ciudad como Patrimonio Cultural.
Cuando los taínos ya no daban para más, trajeron esclavos africanos para trabajar las tierras. En otro momento, los mismos Haitianos (vecinos) nos invadieron, ellos tienen influencia Francesa y en otra ocasión hasta fuimos intervenidos por los Estados Unidos... hasta que pudimos independizarnos en 1844 gracias a Juan Pablo Duarte y hoy en día nos podemos llamar como República Dominicana.
Pero no se preocupen, no hay rencor. Al contrario, hemos adoptado muchas de las costumbres y hemos forjado nuestra identidad a partir de sus culturas... por ejemplo, tenemos como idioma principal el español, como segundo el ingles y muchos aprendemos frances. La mayoría de la población es católica con descendencia Española. Hoy en día recibimos personas de todas partes del mundo, desde China y Japón hasta Venezuela y Colombia.

A little of politics...
I don't like to talk about politics, but i can say that we haven't been very lucky on it, there is still a lot of corruption, nepotism disguised as democracy, at one time we had a tyranny that lasted 31 years. The only government that had good initiatives lasted only 4 months.
Crime and lack of education are very high, you can hardly walk the streets alone anymore, because you can be robbed, the houses must be full of iron doors so that no one enters, the electricity goes out like twice a day on average, the water in many areas does not arrive, the currency is very low and we have many country debts... there is no conscience to do things, not much education and most of people don´t think critically.
But now, we are not here to talk about negative things.
Un poco de política...
No me gusta hablar de política, pero si puedo decir que no hemos tenido mucha suerte, todavía hay mucha corrupción, nepotismo disfrazada de democracia, en un momento tuvimos una tiranía que duró 31 años. El único gobierno que tenía buenas iniciativas duró solo 4 meses.
La delincuencia y la falta de educación son grandísimas, ya prácticamente no se puede andar en la calle solo, porque te pueden robar, las casas deben estar llenas de puertas de hierro para que nadie entre, se va la luz como 2 veces al día promedio, el agua en muchas zonas no llega, la moneda muy devaluada y tenemos muchas deudas... no hay conciencia para hacer las cosas, ni pensamos críticamente.
Pero ya, que no estamos aquí para hablar de cosas negativas.

In spite of all that i have an incredible love for my country, because we are people with a big heart, very loving attitude, we are full of happy people who are willing to help. We look for the way to get out in front under any circumstance, we are very creative to look for the way to solve any situation, believe me VERY creative and the Dominican invents too much.
It is also full of natural beauties, mountains, rivers, lakes, beautiful beaches, cold areas, mangroves, forests... we have all kinds of ecosystems, it just needs to fall snow and last year almost fell in Constanza.
A curious fact is that the seasons are not marked ... here is always summer (high heat with humidity) with the exception of winter (December, January and February) that the temperature drops a little. But, the positive part of this, is that it is always time to go to the beach.
A pesar de todo eso le tengo un amor increíble a mi país, porque somos personas de gran corazón, estamos llena de gente alegre y dispuesta a ayudar. Buscamos la forma de echar para alante bajo cualquier circunstancia, somos muy creativos para buscar la forma de resolver cualquier situación, créeme MUY creativos y el dominicano inventa demasiado.
También está llena de bellezas naturales, montañas, ríos, lagos, playas hermosas, zonas frías, manglares, bosques... tenemos todo tipo de ecosistemas, solo le falta que caiga nieve y el año pasado casi casi cae en Constanza.
Un dato curioso es que las estaciones no están marcadas... aquí siempre es verano (mucho calor con humedad) con excepción del invierno (diciembre, enero y febrero) que la temperatura baja un poco. Pero, la parte positiva de esto, es que siempre es época de ir a la playa.
