STREET ART #89 – A popular house on Odderøya (Kristiansand, Norway)

There are houses, that probably used to a military barracks, on Odderøya, that is very popular among the local street artists. Odderøya is an island, connected to the city center by a bridge and a very popular recreation area. The whole island used to be a military base and we were not allowed to enter. Some of the buildings that were used by the military are still here and now they are in the hands of the local street artists.

There is escpecially one old house, that has a changing appearance. Every time I come here, it has been repainted. Some of the local artists who like to keep this building look attractive is Energinger, Sedin Zunic and Faadepengene. The lastest repaint above, is done by Energinger.

When the military left the island, the artists moved in. There are lots of galleries, painters who have a studio on the island, sculptures and filmakers. Vlekart is one of our most active street artists. This sculpture is found on Odderøya too. I believe it's a mushroom. It's actually the first time I see he is making sculptures.

This is the sign at the entrance to Odderøya. Paintings change all the time, which means I have a large collection by now! This is some of them. This change of murals on the island itself and the sign at the entrance testifies to great artistic activity. In this moment, they are probably already painted over.
