Christmas in the Metaverse

Ho Ho Ho!

Here's my entry to the latest @trippymane graffiti lettering contest, entitled 'Christmas in the Metaverse'.

There's still time to join the competition, all you need to do is follow this link to the content post, read the rules and let your creativity do the rest: @trippymane/graffiti-lettering-contest-9-xmas

As you may have seen from my recent posts, I've been experimenting with Krita software. It's been lots of fun trying out the various brushes and using layers to put the pieces together. I'm still working with a mouse though, so the art is quite messy and jagged.

I didn't really know what to do for this word: XMAS. I'm not a good artist, so anything involving actual characters or objects is usually a no-go for me. I prefer more abstract, atmospheric work. I knew I needed some red for the occasion and I thought it would go well on a dark background. As you can see, the initial lettering process is very messy when working with a mouse!

Next up the fill, and then a bit of winter colour.

Outlining is important, so I switched off the colourful layers to get this sketched out correctly.

Next up was the atmosphere, I wanted something bright yet wintery to contrast against the other colours. I think this blue fog was a nice addition.

And finally, I added some highlights around the edges and signed off with my Hive handle.

Best of luck to other contestants, I'm looking forward to seeing your work!

Over and out.
