Engineering is a very challenging field for someone like me who is inclined to the humanities and social, however you, me or anyone who wants to contribute about human ingenuity and its contribution to solve practical things in everyday life, this is your great opportunity.
Here's why.
First, have you heard that some people are called creative or popular engineers?
My experience in engineering is null, because I am not an engineer academically speaking and less I dominate empirical knowledge, however, some years ago living together in projects that sought to integrate scientific and popular knowledge, I could realize that the approach determines everything.
Is it possible an absolute integration between engineering and people "not studied", from my perspective yes, obviously, to each one, their respect and merit for the efforts made in their studies, who are the qualified people, the main source of theory and practice to strengthen other spaces, where there are a lot of people doing very ingenious and creative things that sometimes require support and guidance.
Some years ago I heard directly from a wonderful and intelligent coworker, who is a petrochemical engineer, she also studied creative industries, studied methodologies, promotes social movements, is a dancer and one day she told the team: "in short I am a creative engineer, I want people who know a lot can be called so too", that term rumbled my head and I kept that idea, then I was typing in search engines and located few concepts, such as this one you can review here.
Later, I met a group of "crazy engineers" who I call them with much affection and they specialized in mechatronics, systems and other things, besides being great professionals, they defended by the way everything that had to do with the use of web 3, (I did not understand much then, but now I do) and also bet on the idea of recognizing the "common" knowledge, where there are ingenious people creating popular technology.
I remember that they told me that there were teenagers in very remote places here in Venezuela making drones to sow seeds in the countryside where they live, it was one of the projects that I loved the most, but I could not know directly.
From these experiences, I began to value in another way the knowledge and the work of wonderful people that since I was a child I had seen doing spectacular things without having degrees, who were dedicated to the trade in blacksmithing, welding, masonry, mechanics and so many things that made them incredibly in: "masters of masters", through their ingenuity, creativity and experience.
Now, I am sure that you have known like me, many of these people who have contributed to make our lives easier, that is where my reflection is centered, which deeply wishes to highlight that engineers need to become more and more humanized, to become accessible, to allow people to fall in love with them when they are in high school or high school through popular knowledge, to see in a practical way theory and solutions, to prevent people like me to be afraid of calculus and mathematics without seeing beyond, is to understand that they are only a window to the creative world and full of opportunities to make the world a better place.
From this scenario the conditions become pleasant to promote more integration spaces, which in addition to encourage the study of any type of engineering, it is also achieved to strengthen every day a creative engineering between popular and academic knowledge to build common projects, with solutions for the good of many people with needs that coincide and to which they can continue to offer practical, feasible and well studied solutions.
From my humble experience, I feel that from the digital platforms we are doing creative engineering, where we are able to create and provide valuable and educational content for problem solving through interdisciplinarity and versatility.

La iniciativa de esta semana en mi querida comunidad de humanitas me encanta, espero que a ti también, aun puedas participar y te prometo que vas a encontrar mucho contenido divertido para compartir.

La ingenieria es un campo sumamente retador para alguien como yo que si inclina a las humanidades y lo social, no obstante tanto tú, yo o cualquiera que desee aportar sobre el ingenio humano y su contribución a solucionar cosas prácticas en el cotidiano, esta es tu gran oportunidad.
Te cuento por qué.
Primero, ¿has escuchado eso de que hay personas que le dicen ingenieras creativas o populares?.
Mi experiencia en la ingeniería es nula, porque no soy ingeniera académicamente hablando y menos domino conocimientos empíricos, sin embargo, hace algunos años conviviendo en proyectos que buscaban integrar el conocimiento científico y el popular, pude darme cuenta que el enfoque determina todo.
¿Es posible una absoluta integración entre las ingenierías y las personas “no estudiadas”?, desde mi perspectiva si, obviamente, a cada quien, su respeto y mérito por los esfuerzos realizados en sus estudios, quienes son las personas calificadas, la fuente principal de teoría y práctica para fortalecer otros espacios, donde hay un montón de gente haciendo cosas muy ingeniosas y creativas que a veces requieren de apoyo y orientación.
Hace algunos años escuché directamente de una compañera de trabajo maravillosa e inteligente, que es ingeniera petroquímica, además estudió industrias creativas, estudió metodologías, promueve movimientos sociales, es bailarina y un día nos dijo al equipo: “yo en resumen soy una ingeniera creativa, quiero que la gente que sabe mucho pueda llamársele así también”, aquel término me retumbo la cabeza y me quedé con esa idea, luego estuve tecleando en buscadores y ubiqué escasos conceptos, como por ejemplo este que puedes revisar aquí.
Posteriormente, conocí un grupo de “ingenieros locos” a quienes les digo así con mucho cariño y se especializaban en mecatrónica, sistemas y otras cosas, que además de ser grandes profesionales, defendían por cierto todo lo que tenía que ver con el uso de la web 3, (yo para entonces no comprendía mucho, pero ahora sí) y además apuestan por la idea de reconocer el conocimiento “común”, donde hay ingeniosas personas creando tecnológica popular.
Recuerdo que me contaban que había adolescentes en lugares muy remotos aquí en Venezuela haciendo drones para sembrar semillas en el campo donde ellos viven, fue uno de los proyectos que más me encantó, pero que no pude conocer directamente.
A partir de estas experiencias, comencé a valorar de otra forma el saber y el quehacer de personas maravillosas que desde niña había visto hacer cosas espectaculares sin contar con títulos, quienes se dedicaban al oficio en herrería, soldadura, albañilería, mecánica y tantas cosas que les convertía increíblemente en: "maestros de maestros”, a través de su ingenio, creatividad y experiencia.
Ahora bien, estoy segura de que has conocido como yo, muchas de estas personas que han contribuido hacernos la vida más fácil, es allí donde se centra mi reflexión la cual desea profundamente resaltar que las ingenierías necesitan cada vez más humanizarse, hacerse accesible, permitir que la gente se enamore de ellas cuando están en la escuela secundaria o el liceo, mediante el saber popular pare ver de manera práctica teoría y soluciones y así evitar que personas como yo le tengamos miedo al cálculo y matemáticas sin ver más allá, es entender que únicamente son una ventana al universo creativo y lleno de oportunidades para hacer del mundo algo mejor.
Desde ese escenario, las condiciones se hacen amenas para propiciar más espacios de integración, que además de incentivar el estudio a cualquier tipo de ingenierias, se logre también fortalecer cada día una ingeniería creativa entre el saber popular y el académico para construir proyectos en común, con soluciones para el bien de muchas personas con necesidades que coincidan y a las que se les pueda continuar ofreciendo soluciones prácticas, fáctibles y bien estudidas.
Desde mi humilde experiencia, siento que en las plataformas digitales estamos haciendo ingenieria creativa, donde somos capaz de crear y aportar contenidos de valor y educativos para la resolución de problemas, mediante las interdiciplinariedad y versatilidad.
