Vivir la geografía [Esp+Eng]

Saludos, comunidad.

Estoy contenta de participar en el cierre de la iniciativa de esta semana 14: Geografía: ¿Dónde te gustaría vivir y por qué?, aunque aún quedan horas de oportunidad para participar, así que espero te animes también, yo me animé tanto que me extendí, sobre todo por que nos invita a hablar de la geografía desde aspectos como la cultura y eso me emociona.

Cuando pienso en la geografía pienso en 3 momentos de mi vida:

1. Cuando jugaba en mi primera computadora en un programa llamado "Microsoft Encarta", que tenía un mapa digital interactivo, además también yo tenía un mapamundi impreso de una enciclopedia donde imaginaba viajar por el planeta.

2. Luego cuando ingresé al liceo o secundaria tuve por primera vez geografía como asignatura escolar y desde entonces se convirtió en unas de mis materias favoritas.

3. Finalmente, a popósito que estudié Desarrollo Humano tenemos definidas líneas de acciones, entre ellas está la investigación dentro de ese abanico de abordaje, que se vincula con el estudio del contexto, mediante el lenguaje de las personas.

Esta iniciativa me hizo pensar no sólo donde quiero vivir, sino cómo vivo la geografía actualmente desde la comprensión de la cultura.

Según estudios relacionados a la dimensión teórico y metodológico de la psicología social del lenguaje, que tiene grandes antecedentes que puedes revisar aquí, describe premisas que marcaron la pauta en la comprensión de las comunicaciones humanas, las cuales adquirieron una gran relevancia, especialmente a partir de la etnometodología, donde el lenguaje simple de la vida cotidiana guarda un contenido tan enriquecedor que ayuda a comprender no solo como construimos realidades, sino que además estas tiene una influencia complementaria según el contexto del que somos parte.

La importancia del lenguaje en el contexto

Como lo dije anteriormente, desde niña he sido una curiosa de los mapas, la historia y la cultura que envuelve cada grupo social, me encanta conocer lugares diferentes, siento que soy de todas partes y sueño con ser ciudadana del mundo, por eso es tan importante para mi el lenguaje contextualizado, entendido también como idiolectos.

Como siempre hacemos vida en un contexto y este nos define o reconfigura, aclaro que vengo de una familia muy diversa entre Yaracuy, Caracas, Sucre y Lara, esa diversidad me hace sentir lo que dijo Facundo Cabral en su canción:

"no soy de aquí ni soy de allá, ser feliz es mi color de identidad".

Por eso, siento que a partir de esa diversidad familiar de ser parte de diversos territorios, a través de los años he construido mi visión sobre el mundo, una que intenta cada día ser más inclusiva desde lo que hablo y acciono donde esté, porque el "lenguaje contextualizando" pemite conocernos, vincularnos y construir sentidos comunes o de pertenenencia así como respeto a la diversidad.

Aunque nunca he salido de Venezuela, he vivido en los últimos años en 3 estados diferentes, mediante esos cambios he podido experimentar los contrastes entre la ciudad o lo opuesto y cada uno tiene su encanto no solo natural, sino también es enriquecedor a nivel sociocultural, económico, entre otras cosas condiciones, que aunque pueden estar influenciadas por cualquier contexto nacional, cada territorio tiene sus singularidades, como por ejemplo el lenguaje desde donde hablamos, cómo nos referimos a ciertas cosas según cada lugar.

Por ejemplo, hice un simple ejercicio: le pregunté a mi esposo que nació en Lara qué es para el "saborear", me respondio: que para el es probar, sentir sabor, degustar, pero para mi que nací en Yaracuy aunque tambien comprendo lo que dice mi esposo, usamos la palabra "saborear" en un contrexto donde le expresamos a alguien que le gusta el chisme, de esta manera quiero puntualizar cómo desde nuestro contexto construimos realidades que pasan desapercibidas, pero que tiene un sentido y valor y sólo esas personas que forman parte de ese contexto lo pueden entender.

De allí que, me encanta observar, entender y vivir la geografía desde la expresión de la cultura, mediante el lenguaje contextualizado que empleamos, con el cual no sólo me hago consciente de mi entorno sino que además puedo construir nuevas acciones a partir del lenguaje.

¿Donde quiero vivir entonces?

Me encantaría conocer y hasta vivir por temporadas desde el polo norte hasta el polo sur de la tierra, pero cuando pienso en la palabra "vivir", se me viene a la cabeza tantos cuestionamientos: ¿qué es vivir?.

Estos días escuché una linda analogía: vivir es descansar, así que el lugar donde quiero siempre estar, es donde encuentre descanso, sea de manera permanente o temporal. Aún cuando ande en movimiento y sienta que pueda disfrutar de los años que queden por vivir en este plano, siento que ese es mi lugar.

Mientras esté cerca de quienes amo, con un trabajo digno no solo por la remuneración, sino porque también disfruto lo que hago por mi cuenta, siento que ese es mi lugar para vivir.

Eso sí, el lugar donde siempre me observo viviendo tiene que estar lejos del mar por respeto a su furia, me gusta el silencio, pero a veces también extraño el caos de la ciudad. Quiero que exista la brisa de un clima agradable, de acceso al transporte y la salud pública, de ir a subir a la montaña o estar en la dinámica del comercio, de pasar un tiempo en el bosque y luego ir a la casa de mi abuela y mi mamá, quiero viajar y aquietarme por temporadas, mi lugar para vivir es colorido y alegre, a veces tiene sus propios contrastes, por eso me agrada mucho mi país, especialmente territorios como Yaracuy, Lara o Caracas.

Para finalizar, quiero decir algo que una vez escuché de una sabía y querida abuelita: "no se extraña lo que no se conoce", en otras palabras el desconocimiento nos limita a ver otras posibilidades o simplemente ignoramos lo que no conocemos, aun cuando puedo pensar en conocer o vivir en muchos territorios incluso más allá de Venezuela, lo haría desde una conciencia de turista más no para vivir, creo que el caso de cada país, tiene sus propias condiciones algunas son atractivas, otras más disimuladas y otras más polémicas, ninguno es perfecto, cada uno tiene sus contradicciones.

Por esta razón, siento que ahora mismo estoy viviendo en lugares donde quiero estar, viajo, conozco sin pensar en lo que no tengo ahora, vivo agradeciendo dónde estoy y con quiénes estoy, por supuesto siempre dispuesta a conocer y transitar por nuevas latitudes, ojalá éstas con el paso del tiempo ya no tengan fronteras que nos limiten y separen tanto, porque a pesar de la diversidad somos muy comunes.

I am happy to participate in the closing of the initiative of this week 14: Geography: Where would you like to live and why, although there are still hours of opportunity to participate, so I hope you are encouraged too, I was so encouraged that I extended myself, especially because it invites us to talk about geography from aspects such as culture and that excites me.

When I think of geography I think of 3 moments in my life:

1.When I played on my first computer in a program called "Microsoft Encarta", which had an interactive digital map, plus I also had a printed world map from an encyclopedia where I imagined traveling around the planet.

2.Then when I entered high school I had geography as a school subject for the first time and since then it became one of my favorite subjects.

3.Finally, when I studied Human Development, we have defined lines of action, among them is research within that range of approach, which is linked to the study of the context, through the language of people.

This initiative made me think not only about where I want to live, but how I live geography today from the understanding of culture.

According to studies related to the theoretical and methodological dimension of the social psychology of language, which has great antecedents that you can review here, it describes premises that set the standard in the understanding of human communications, which acquired great relevance, especially from ethnomethodology, where the simple language of everyday life keeps such an enriching content that helps to understand not only how we build realities, but also that these have a complementary influence according to the context of which we are part.

The importance of language in context

As I said before, since I was a child I have been curious about maps, history and the culture that surrounds each social group, I love to know different places, I feel that I am from everywhere and I dream of being a citizen of the world, that is why it is so important for me the contextualized language, also understood as idiolects.

As we always make life in a context and this defines or reconfigures us, I clarify that I come from a very diverse family between Yaracuy, Caracas, Sucre and Lara, that diversity makes me feel what Facundo Cabral said in his song:

"I am not from here nor am I from there, being happy is my color of identity".

Therefore, I feel that from that familiar diversity of being part of different territories, over the years I have built my vision of the world, one that tries every day to be more inclusive from what I speak and act where I am, because the "contextualizing language" allows us to know each other, link us and build common senses of belonging as well as respect for diversity.

Although I have never left Venezuela, I have lived in the last years in 3 different states, through those changes I have been able to experience the contrasts between the city or the opposite and each one has its charm not only natural, but it is also enriching at a socio-cultural, economic level, among other things conditions, that although they can be influenced by any national context, each territory has its singularities, such as the language from where we speak, how we refer to certain things according to each place.

For example, I did a simple exercise: I asked my husband, who was born in Lara, what is "saborear" for him, he answered: that for him it is to taste, to feel flavor, to taste, but for me who was born in Yaracuy although I also understand what my husband says, we use the word "savor" in a context where we express to someone who likes gossip, in this way I want to point out how from our context we build realities that go unnoticed, but that has a meaning and value and only those people who are part of that context can understand it.

Hence, I love to observe, understand and live geography from the expression of culture, through the contextualized language we use, with which I not only become aware of my environment but I can also build new actions from language.

Where do I want to live then?

I would love to know and even live for seasons from the north pole to the south pole of the earth, but when I think of the word "living", so many questions come to my mind: what is living?

These days I heard a nice analogy: to live is to rest, so the place where I always want to be is where I find rest, either permanently or temporarily. Even when I am on the move and feel I can enjoy the years I have left to live on this plane, I feel that is my place.

As long as I am close to those I love, with a decent job not only because of the pay, but also because I enjoy what I do on my own, I feel that is my place to live.

Of course, the place where I always see myself living has to be far away from the sea out of respect for its fury, I like the silence, but sometimes I also miss the chaos of the city. I want the breeze of a pleasant climate, access to transportation and public health, to go climbing in the mountains or to be in the dynamics of commerce, to spend some time in the forest and then go to my grandmother's and my mom's house, I want to travel and calm down for seasons, my place to live is colorful and cheerful, sometimes it has its own contrasts, that is why I like my country very much, especially territories like Yaracuy, Lara and Caracas.

To finish, I want to say something that I once heard from a well-known and beloved grandmother: "you don't miss what you don't know", in other words the lack of knowledge limits us to see other possibilities or we simply ignore what we don't know, even when I can think of knowing or living in many territories even beyond Venezuela, I would do it from a tourist consciousness but not to live, I believe that the case of each country has its own conditions, some are attractive, others more disguised and others more controversial, none is perfect, each one has its contradictions.

For this reason, I feel that right now I am living in places where I want to be, I travel, I know without thinking about what I do not have now, I live being grateful for where I am and with whom I am, of course always willing to know and travel through new latitudes, hopefully these with the passage of time no longer have borders that limit and separate us so much because despite the diversity we are very common.
