Lelys es una docente incapacitada intentando adaptarse a una condición nueva de vida. Luego de 20 años saliendo a la calle a trabajar le ha tocado quedarse en casa dedicada a las labores del hogar y el cuidado de sus hijos. Todos los días se levanta a la misma hora 4:30 AM extrañando prepararse para ir al trabajo. Se da cuenta que ya su cuerpo no resiste tanto trajín y se dedica a realizar actividades en casa que la mantengan ocupada y que le generen ingresos ya que su salario como docente es insuficiente para subsistir.
Ella recordó que hace algunos años en un época bastante delicada, en la que la economía familiar estaba por el suelo, el tejido a crochet le permitió obtener un dinero extra para sobrellevar la carga. Por lo que inmediatamente buscó todos los hilos que tenía almacenados y empezó a tejer.
Lelys is a disabled teacher trying to adapt to a new way of life. After 20 years of going out to work, she has had to stay at home to do housework and take care of her children. Every day she gets up at the same time, 4:30 AM, missing getting ready for work. She realizes that her body can no longer withstand so much hustle and bustle and she dedicates herself to activities at home that keep her busy and generate income, since her salary as a teacher is insufficient to make ends meet.
She recalled that a few years ago, during a very difficult time, when the family economy was at rock bottom, crocheting allowed her to get some extra money to help her cope with the burden. So she immediately reached for all the yarn she had in storage and began to knit.
Se sentía contenta porque tejió muchos bolsos y los vendía. Gracias a un grupo de amigas que la ayudaban. Lamentablemente para ella dos años más tarde la situación económica del país empeoró y por ende para todos a su alrededor, limitando a las personas a comprar solo los alimentos y productos básicos necesarios. Ya sus bolsos dejaron de venderse. Entonces emprendió en otras actividades, también comerciales. A veces le iba bien a veces no. Hasta que llegó el punto de perder las esperanzas.
Lelys cayó en depresión y perdió todo entusiasmo. Aunque nunca dejó de tejer. Todos los hilos se le terminaron, pero ella destejió algunas carpetas que no se vendieron, reutilizó el hilo para aprender a tejer amigurumis. Tejió viendo tutoriales y cada día se emocionaba más. Un día se decidió a realizar uno de su propia inspiración, empezó a sacar patrones y se dió vida haciendo muñequitos. Ya no tenía carpetas que destejer y optó por los hilos de coser. Ella estaba muy entretenida tejiendo y tejiendo con la esperanza de vender todo y recibir un buen dinero por ellos. Sin embargo las ventas nada que mejoraban.
She was happy because she knitted many bags and sold them. Thanks to a group of friends who helped her. Unfortunately for her, two years later the economic situation of the country worsened and therefore for everyone around her, limiting people to buy only the necessary food and basic products. Her bags were no longer sold. So she started other activities, also commercial. Sometimes she did well, sometimes not. Until she reached the point of losing hope.
Lelys fell into depression and lost all enthusiasm. But she never stopped knitting. All her yarns ran out, but she unknitted some unsold folders, reused the yarn to learn how to knit amigurumis. She knitted watching tutorials and got more excited every day. One day she decided to make one of her own inspiration, began to draw patterns and gave herself life making dolls. She had no more folders to unweave and opted for sewing threads. She was very busy knitting and knitting in the hope of selling everything and getting good money for them. However, the sales were not getting any better.
Los días pasaban y siempre se inventaba algo. Alterno al tejido que diariamente hacía, ofreció servicio de recargas telefónicas a sus vecinos. También compró algunos productos como cigarrillos, azúcar, café y otros, los promocionaba por los grupos de WhatsApp igual que sus diseños y amigurumis. Así estuvo Lelys por tres años. Nunca se rindió, pero no estaba conforme. Hacía mucho y ganaba poco. Recibía algunas críticas porque ella tejia incesantemente sin recibir nada a cambio. Su consuelo era sentirse bien y en paz mientras lo hacía.
The days went by and she was always inventing something. In addition to her daily knitting, she offered phone recharge service to her neighbors. She also bought some products such as cigarettes, sugar, coffee and others, she promoted them through WhatsApp groups as well as her designs and amigurumis. Lelys was like this for three years. She never gave up, but she was not satisfied. She made a lot and earned little. She received some criticism because she knitted incessantly without receiving anything in return. Her consolation was to feel good and at peace while doing it.
A pesar de no contar con el servicio de telefonía pública ni aba de cantv ella se interesó por conocer el mundo del trabajo por internet. Se registró en varias páginas y prácticamente era esclava de muchas de ellas. Esto le permitía obtener un dinero semanal con el que podía al menos pagar la renta de su servicio privado de datos y comprar algunos víveres. No obstante vivía en agonía. Se desesperaba. Estar en casa incapacitada padeciendo necesidades era un tormento.
In spite of not having public telephone service or cantv's aba, she was interested in learning about the world of internet work. She registered in several pages and was practically a slave to many of them. This allowed her to get weekly money with which she could at least pay the rent for her private data service and buy some groceries. Nevertheless, she lived in agony. She despaired. Being at home incapacitated and in need was a torment.
Lo bueno de Lelys es que siempre se levanta y comienza de nuevo. ¡Rendirse jamás! Al menos ya sabe que en el tejido tiene el mejor refugio y una excelente terapia, el producto final de su trabajo algún día se venderá. Así vivirá Lelys por muchos años. Unos días buenos otros no tanto. Comiendo lo que se consiga y estirando lo más que se pueda el dinero que ingresa al hogar. Ella recuerda muy seguido las palabras de su padre: ¡Hija, el dinero está hecho solo hay que salir a buscarlo!

The good thing about Lelys is that she always gets up and starts again. Never give up!
