Un acuerdo con mi esposa desde que nos encontramos haciendo vida juntos, es pasar la nochebuena con mi familia y el año nuevo con la suya. Y a menos que nos hayamos ido de viaje, religiosamente hemos cumplido con esto. Ahora, algo por comprender es que si no se encuentran otros hombres en la fiesta de año nuevo, es bastante difícil hablar con las mujeres por el tipo de temas que dominan su intercambio y de los cuales, este servidor, se declara incompetente para abordarlos. De tal modo que la solución fue navegar por internet mientras ellas charlaban.
An agreement with my wife since we found ourselves living together is to spend Christmas Eve with my family and New Year's Eve with hers. And unless we have gone on a trip, we have religiously abided by this. Now, one thing to understand is that if there are no other men at the New Year's party, it is quite difficult to talk to the women because of the kinds of topics that dominate their exchange and which I, yours truly, declare myself incompetent to address. So the solution was to surf the internet while they chatted.

I tend to be very sociable at gatherings, not that at this point in my life there is an abundance of invitations out there, but New Year's used to be more attractive when my brothers-in-law attended. Anyway, I was checking my TL on Twitter when I read a challenge proposed by @hiveio and so, you read me here with my participation.
En el cuerpo de la publicación se nos invita a reflexionar sobre el mejor momento por el que pasamos en 2022, donde HIVE fuera el tema central de ese #HiveHighlight. Como pueden comprender, mi vida está basada alrededor de nuestra plataforma, porque dedico el 100% de mi tiempo a ella. No poseo otra actividad económica que produzca ingresos, porque desde que comencé acá hace casi cinco años (los cumpliré el 18 de Enero), mi meta fue convertir ésta oportunidad en trabajo y vaya que ha sido duro lograr esto. Para nadie es secreto.
In the body of the post, we are invited to reflect on the best time we had in 2022, where HIVE was the central theme of that #HiveHighlight. As you can understand, my life is based around our platform because I dedicate 100% of my time to it. I have no other economic activity that produces income, because since I started here almost five years ago (I'll be here on January 18), my goal was to turn this opportunity into a job. It has been hard to achieve this. It is no secret to anyone.
Jamás nos piden detallar la cantidad de vicisitudes por las que hemos pasado, sino escoger el mejor. Para mí es difícil porque HIVE ha significado una fuente perenne de satisfacciones. Sin embargo, hubo un momento muy especial para mí. Significó mucho. Durante el mes de noviembre pasado, me enteré que habría un evento en la capital de Venezuela llamado Caracas Blockchain Week. Mi plan inicial era asistir como espectador. Para ello, me puse en contacto con @enrique89 y le comenté mi deseo de asistir. También le pedí, si existía la posibilidad, los tickets para los cuatro días de exhibiciones.
We are never asked to detail the number of alterations we have gone through, but to choose the best one. For me, it is difficult because HIVE has been a perennial source of satisfaction. However, there was a very special moment for me. It meant a lot. Last November, I found out that there would be an event in the capital of Venezuela called Caracas Blockchain Week. My initial plan was to attend as a spectator. To do so, I contacted @enrique89 and told him about my desire to attend. I also asked him, if there was a possibility, of tickets for the four days of exhibitions.
Enrique me consiguió las entradas y llegado el martes primero de noviembre 2022, enfilé mi vehículo con dirección a Caracas. Al día siguiente comenzaba el evento, pero tendríamos un encuentro de Hivers en un café, ese mismo martes en la noche, el cual serviría para dos propósitos: un meet-up para conocer a otros usuarios de la plataforma y la entrega del material que usarían los representantes de la plataforma en el evento. Fue una reunión formidable porque hubo de todo: risas, lágrimas, abrazos, música original, comedia stand-up y hasta declamé poesía en medio de la tarima. Sirvió también para disminuir la ansiedad entre personas que no se conocían y para establecer sugerencias con el fin de tener mayor seguridad en el evento.
Enrique got me the tickets and arrived on Tuesday, November 1st, 2022, I headed to Caracas. The next day the event would begin, but we would have a Hivers meeting in a cafe, that same Tuesday night, which would serve two purposes: a meet-up to meet other users of the platform and the delivery of the material that the representatives of the platform would use in the event. It was a great meeting because there was everything: laughter, tears, hugs, original music, stand-up comedy and I even declaimed poetry in the middle of the stage. It also served to reduce anxiety among people who did not know each other and to establish suggestions to have more security in the event.

Con todo listo para el encuentro del día siguiente, el tráfico de Caracas puso nuestros nervios de punta porque me hospedé en el apartamento de mi hermana en Montalbán y para llegar a la torre BOD en la Castellana, tuvimos que atravesar toda Caracas de oeste a este. Menos mal que había salido temprano hacia el evento. Llegamos unos 15 minutos luego de la hora de inicio que tenía en mente. Pero no habían abierto al público y nos dio chance de hacer los registros en el lobby del Caracas Blockchain Week para intercambiar nuestros tickets electrónicos por una pulsera que nos identificaría durante el resto de los días.
With everything ready for the next day's meeting, the traffic in Caracas put our nerves on edge because I was staying at my sister's apartment in Montalbán and to get to the BOD tower in La Castellana, we had to cross all of Caracas from west to east. Good thing I had left early for the event. We arrived about 15 minutes after the start time I had in mind. But they had not opened it to the public and gave us a chance to register in the lobby of the Caracas Blockchain Week to exchange our e-tickets for a wristband that would identify us for the rest of the days.
Lo que sucedió luego de la inauguración, no fue normal: una avalancha de público ávido de saber sobre Web3 se abalanzó sobre la exhibición. La cantidad de personas fue tan grande que pronto nos dimos cuenta: los compañeros poseedores de la representación oficial de nuestra plataforma no podrían atender a tantas personas. Fue así como muchos de quienes asistíamos en calidad de espectadores nos pusimos la gorra de HIVE y nos sumamos espontáneamente ayudar en la atención dentro del stand. Fue algo increíble de ver, pero mucho más la sinergia creada espontáneamente del deber por representar a nuestra plataforma, salida del alma desinteresadamente y que, además, la cadena quedara bien parada ante el público.
What happened after the inauguration was not normal: an avalanche of people eager to know about Web3 rushed to the exhibition. The number of people was so large that we soon realized: the colleagues holding the official representation of our platform would not be able to attend to so many people. So many of us who attended as spectators put on our HIVE hats and spontaneously joined in to help out at the booth. It was something incredible to see, but much more the synergy created spontaneously from the duty to represent our platform, out of the soul and selflessly, and that, in addition, the chain looked good in front of the public.
En todos mis años como dueño de empresas, jamás había visto algo similar. Fueron 35 años dedicados a la empresa privada. A nadie allí le ofrecieron nada para participar en defensa de la imagen de HIVE. Fue algo automático. Era demasiado público. Y estoy seguro que los organizadores se vieron superados por sus propias expectativas. De pronto volteabas a cualquier lado del stand y veías a un hiver atendiendo con prestancia a los curiosos. Pronto se hizo evidente que nos tocaría trabajar allí, aunque otros habían sido nuestros planes.
In all my years as a business owner, I had never seen anything similar. It was 35 years dedicated to private enterprise. No one there was offered anything to participate in the defense of HIVE's image. It was automatic. It was too public. And I'm sure the organizers were overwhelmed by their expectations. Suddenly you would turn to either side of the booth and see an hiver attending to the onlookers. It soon became clear that we would have to work there, although our plans had been different.
En lo personal atendí tres medios de comunicación: dos especializados en criptomonedas y una emisora de radio que transmitía en vivo por streaming, las incidencias del evento. Y así como yo, muchos Hivers fueron abordados por periodistas. Nuestra cadena fue la sensación del evento y algunos organizadores atribuyeron el éxito a la comunidad de HIVE por su numerosa y bien informada representación. Por supuesto, hubo muchos otros momentos buenos en 2022 relacionados a HIVE como ser speaker vía streaming para el Hive Meet-up de Argentina o servir durante diez días como experto en el evento de la Expo-Zulia en Maracaibo, pero la Caracas Blockchain Week se lleva mis palmas por como se produjo todo.
I attended three media outlets: two specialized in cryptocurrencies and a radio station that transmitted live streaming, of the incidents of the event. And like me, many Hivers were approached by journalists. Our network was the sensation of the event and some organizers credited the success to the HIVE community for its large and well-informed representation. Of course, there were many other good moments in 2022 related to HIVE like being a speaker via streaming for the Hive Meet-up in Argentina or serving for ten days as an expert at the Expo-Zulia event in Maracaibo, but Caracas Blockchain Week takes my palms for how it all came together.
La verdad, no sé que nos depara este cripto-invierno para este año que comienza, la incertidumbre se podrá apoderar de muchos, pero algo que aprendí de mi época de empresario fue que cuando te consigues construyendo un mañana, nada puede sacarte de tu objetivo primordial: establecer las bases de algo sólido consume tiempo, pero luego, no se caerá por culpa de unos cuantos. Remar en un solo sentido fue lo que nos pareció hacíamos en el evento que estamos reseñando como nuestro Hive Highlight. Y cuando tienes eso, el mañana es indestructible.
Truth be told, I don't know what this crypto-winter has in store for us this year, uncertainty may take hold of many, but something I learned from my time as an entrepreneur was that when you get yourself building a tomorrow, nothing can take you away from your primary goal: laying the foundations of something solid takes time, but then, it won't fall because of a few. Paddling in one direction was what we seemed to be doing at the event we are reviewing as our Hive Highlight. And when you have that, tomorrow is indestructible.
