Flashback!
Sometimes I come across a for me unknown song and I put it in one of my sets. Afterward, I forgot about it. Then I started another Midnight Gems trip, a couple of trips later I came across a song which I thought was awesome..... and I was like I know this song and then that little light started flashing.
This song was that flashing flashback, and it is even better the second time around.

I had to triple-check that that was no cover as itĀ“s just sooo good.

Dami Im - Sound of Silence
Did it ring any bells, a 7-year-old Eurovision bell maybe? Well neither did it ring for me, although it had again that freakish familiar feel I could not drive it home. But Damn Dami In sang this for Australia 7 years ago, and it got her to #2.
Now that is really a bit out of my comfort zone and into my guilty pleasure areaš.
But I am fine with that tonight, and I am always fine with a girl called Hazel for some reason that name gives me a warm cozy autumn feeling.

Dhoe gaze voice and some synths, I have a bad feeling about where this is going. Falling into another Rabbit Hole I am sure.

Guess part of me wants to crawl back and feel comfortably numb again, because I am about to break this close to the edge of my not-so-comfort zone.
So letĀ“s mix it up a bit more and take this trip to lightning speed. This took some time but became one of my favorite songs by LP.

Now this next one is certainly not perfect, but as I love the original song I found it a great fit for this crazy trip of ours )and not just because itĀ“s Special K on Acid).
Maiah Wynne - Come On - Melanchoholic remix by Special K on Acid
Sticking with that same theme of dream trance remixes of pretty girly voices, now this song has been covered to often and I prefer the HIM version to this one but no back to black tonight.

Yup itĀ“s a guy and heĀ“s been signed since 2011 and by now has been all over the place; Electric Forest, Tomorrowland, Igloofest, ADE, Alfa Future People, Dour Festival, Ile Soniq, Sziget, and Nocturnal Wonderland.
I am only twelve years late, but hey at least I discovered him myself.

My Midnight Gems will try to uncover & recover those beautiful songs that nobody ever noticed or might have been forgotten.
Who the fluff am I?
Being a former DJ playing about everything and having an uncompleted study of radio journalism. I have been wanting to do this for years...Thought about it many nights and guess now itĀ“s time to finally take it to the streets.
