Landscape photography – Spectacular karst formations (14 photos)

Li River runs from the city of Guilin toYangshuo. This is a distance of aprox. 65 kilometer. I think that the best way to travel from Guilin to Yangshou is on the river. This river cruise is done on a rather small boat. It takes almost 6 hours to reach Yangshuo, but it is an enjoyable trip and the ticket includes lunch. You can sit either inside or outside and just let yourself be amazed by this extraorinary karst landscape. I did the cruise in late november, which ment we had to dress up with warm clothes. But there were still many boats on the river. Must be a very popular cruise.

Guilin is a large city with more than a million inhabitants. Yangshuo has some 300.000.You do get the feeling that it's a small town compared with Guilin. But it's laid-back and pleasant, with lots of good eating places. Also a good starting point if you want to explore the country side, villages and rice paddies.

Yangshuo is surrounded by spectacular karst hills with paddy fields in between. The main attraction is the countryside. A popular activity is to go for a river cruise on the Yulong River. Only this time not on a boat, but a bambo raft. This river has impressive karst hills and the fact that we were almost alone gave the whole experience a sence of being in another world.

No one can deny that the scenery is spectacular.
