The Hive Stock Images community recently put out a drive for images of brain, ideas, thoughts and emotions. Images around these themes are often requested but are tricky to encapsulate in image form. How can you photograph something abstract like 'terror', for example? Just can't! In order to convey terror, the image likely needs to be of a symbol that represents terror and is widely understood to do so - a terrified face, or perhaps, the greatly maligned Great White shark :).
Aside from slicing open my skull with the kitchen knife and sticking the camera's self-timer on 😜, I figured that it'd be easier to approach this tangentially - from a different angle, so to speak.
I opened a pack of Lidl walnuts and, since there were no complete ones to be found, I took a couple of halves and stuck them together with peanut butter before taking some photos. I also had a quick look online for ideas / inspiration. In the end, my walnut-brained subjects weren't really up to the task although they do feature in a couple of the images presented. I made some illustrations instead.
I've finished with seven images which represent brain activity in some manner. I decided not to put any labels on, it's something which folk can do themselves if they wish. The images are all sized to 2400 x 1600 pixels and I hope some people may find them suitable and useful. I welcome feedback and suggestions on this.
