Hello, Steemers. I'm Garth.
I've been lurking around the paste few weeks, trying to figure out all the ins and outs of Steemit, and I figured it was time to introduce myself and say hello.
I've been trying to tell people for the last few years that the greatest influence individuals have over society is the ability to opt out of the systems, businesses, and governmental structures they disapprove of. I have boycotted businesses whose practices I didn't agree with. I have taken work that pays less in order to decrease the amount of my labor profits that get stolen and used to pay for all kinds of government activities I disapprove of. I began converting all my savings into silver, gold, and digital assets as a way of opting out of the corrupt banking system as much as possible.
I see Steemit as a tool to empower more people to opt out in ways previously unheard of. I know it's young still, so I'm counting on a great success, but it's still exciting. I have a bit of a creative streak, and from time to time I write songs, make podcasts, and write essays. I don't usually find too much time to create because I have a job which consumes most of my productive time, but Steemit might give me incentive enough to create more. We'll see.
