First off I'd like to thank @cradle for getting me on to "A Korean Odyssey". I've seen it on Netflix for a while and have always wanted to give it a go, so when he said it was his favourite I thought I'd try it out.
I spoke to my friendly k-expert @topkpop about my k-curiosity and was warned that the Ks are addictive. So I definitely went in slowly, with my guard up, not knowing what to expect.
As an experienced watcher of TV shows you begin to expect pilots to be at a certain standard if they are to last past season one like ~ great characters, actors and story line. When the pilot finishes and the next logical step is to keep going, then you have something.
This is what happened with A Korean Odyssey.
Everywhere I looked in the last year Korea was there. From food, to music, to television people around me are crazy about anything Korean and I looked from the outside wondering what the fuss was all about.
Well, I get it now.
The way this show was written and produced I have no words for. I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. Maybe it's just the show itself and they don't all roll like that in South Korea but seriously. I don't even mind all that reading and I'm up to episode 4!
Am I surprised I'm hooked?
Hell yeh! I got sucked in by so many things.
- The interesting characters that pulled at my emotions.
- The way the show was produced from the soundtrack to the cgi.
- The storyline! I want to know where this is going!
- The scary af. spirits, the drama, intrigue, mystery, love story and most of all, the humor...
Which brings me to number 5, my favourite korean star and my week 2 of @SteemPh's my favourites comp..
Cha Seung-won
(I took photos of my fave bit and collaged it ;))
I'd give you context to the collage above but I don't want to give more spoilers so you'll have to watch it and see what all that is about. I will say that's not the funniest bit.
It's the many scenes like that throughout the show that gives perfect relief from everything else going on and I honestly can't imagine anyone else giving this complex character the depth and dimension Cha Seung-won can.
He owns it every step of the way. From the swagger in his very well suited form, to his comic expression of sheer frustration, especially in the way he makes his ears, face, head twitch at the right time, just the right way for emphasis.
Well done bro. Well done. 👏👏👏
I'm halfway through the series at the moment and I'm sure by the end of the week I'll be done with it. Does anyone else have a fave Kdrama they can recommend that's on Netflix Australia?
There's a few there but I don't know what's good and whats not. Suggestions will be welcome. Please no spoilers!
The comp is only for the @SteemPh community for now. Those interested in joining the comp, click HERE for competition details.
This week's guest judge is the one, THE ONLY @topkpop. THANKS LOVE! ❤. Can't think of anyone more perfect for the job.
Well that's all for me today!
Happy Thursday Steemit!
