You Are Still a "Mother" Even If You've Never Had a Child of Your Own!

Mother's Day can be bittersweet for so many reasons. This may be a sad day for those of you that lost your mothers recently or at any point in the past. The memories are sweet but the holiday can be a reminder of her and that can bring along sadness and grief. I want you to know that I am praying for you if you are struggling in that kind of situation right now.

Today, however, I want to talk about something that I believe confronts a great number of women out there and it has to do with feelings of inadequacy on Mother's Day. Some of you out there may have been told by your doctor that you cannot have children of your own and as a result, days like today can cause you to feel self-conscious about it... and understandably so. These kinds of disappointments can be heartbreaking even though you try your best to work through the whole host of emotions that it may bring.

I have a message for some of the women out there....

There are many of you that never had children of your own, but you have shown the self-less love and kindness to hurting people just as if they were your own children. You have shown the love of Christ in ways that have been clearly evident and that means a great deal to those who need it the most!

A lot of women go to the hospital and have a baby but not all have accepted the calling to be a true mom. So regardless of whether you had your children in the traditional sense, or whether you legally adopted or unofficially have been a spiritual mom, you have worth and value and please don't ever forget that important truth.

So hold your head high today and know that you have a tremendous worth and a high calling because being a mother is more than means the eye and we can all say amen to that one!

At this time, I would like to say a few special words to my mother and wish her a very Happy Mother's Day! She has been a wonderful mother to me and my sister. I have never known anyone with more love and grace than my special mother! She has been there for us when we needed it the most and always demonstrated what it takes to be a real mom. Over the past 5 years, she has put herself last as she has taken care of my father after his major stroke. She continues to be the greatest and always will be! Love you and have a wonderful day!
