Life Keys: Self-Reliance

One should never be permanently dependent, if you are able to work or do any activity then you should be able to depend on yourself.

We have many organisations that complete the short term goal, which is helping people, but after helping people they will still need help the next day. It doesn’t make a long term difference if we cannot help a person by teaching them how to help themselves.

You can give a person a fish today, but tomorrow they will need a fish again. If you give a person a fishing rod and teach them how to fish they will have a fish forever.

We have all been given talents and have something to contribute to society, we are all geniuses in ourselves. When we truly feel happy is when we have success, this is both in our general lives and in work.

Parenting

Often parents give their children everything and they no longer work for the things they want and need. We don’t teach them that anything they want in life requires work to obtain it. Once we then have to send them out into the world they struggle as they are used to just getting, we all know that you don’t get something of high quality for free.

Exceptions

Some of us will not ever be able to become self-reliant due to problems of a physical or mental nature. This does not stop you from everything, there are things you can be good at. Everyone has something special in them that they can share with others.

We must still help those out who need help, but make sure that you are helping them in a constructive way so they will participate in self-reliance instead of just standing with their hands open.

We must always remember that after every storm there is a rainbow. We might get problems in life that prevent us from being completely self-reliant, but that is ok just do your best to provide and you will not feel too guilty when someone helps you out.

Helping other

I have found that when helping someone you actually end up with more in the end. There is value in many things, even when giving some of your things with another and never getting it back, you will receive something else that will be of more value. Weather this is physical or emotional, you feel good when you help someone out.

Conclusion

We are all the same, weather we are rich (financially or knowledge) or poor. No one wants to feel useless in life, everyone has a general goad and that is to have a happy life.

Sharing and serving each other will bring happiness because in the end your memories and bonds with others will be remembered and your money will be spent and not remembered as it is only a means to an end. Try be the best person you can be and if you have extra, give a little, and if you need, take sparingly.
