On a wing and a prayer
I don't like to fly. To me, a plane is a potential coffin with wings attached. So when I touched down at JFK I was ecstatic! Arriving home I found out from the neighbors that homeless drug addicts were living in my place while I was gone. Upon being challenged, they started moving my things out.

Now to those of you in Europe/Canada/Australia, depending on where we live in the States, it's not unusual for some Americans to "not want to get involved" when they see a crime occurring. I'm pleased none of my neighbors got hurt, directly trying to intervene. However, one brave person did say something, which was admirable. There is always a remnant of good people around who are very much appreciated.
Instead of feeling angry and violated, an inner peace came over me. Almost like a higher power saying: "something good will come of this" Have any of you ever felt this way after some traumatic event? It's inexplicable, yet true. Sort of like your house burning down, but you escape without a scratch. You're grateful to be alive! I've since restored much of what was lost and am doing well. So to anyone out there going through tough times, be thankful for what you have, and don't ever give up! Life is more precious than things.
