I
am not literally in an operating jail, but rather, one which is not in operation. Generally they use disused institutional buildings, such as the former mental institute, "Valeriuskliniek" and I forget exactly where it was last year because I was only there briefly. This year it is the old prison on Havenstraat.
Being run in a prison has some big advantages, such as each room is a cell, and has either 1 or 2 beds, and a toilet and sink and power points to recharge the widgets. My cell has no door though...
Here is the view back towards the standart jail central atrium.
This is my bed, it is very comfy.
On the right at the back is the desk with electric, and you can see the sink on the near right.
And of course, the cell's toilet.
Today now I need to start on applying for an uitkering (welfare payment). I forget exactly what is involved or when it opens and closes. I am just going to sit at the inloophuis in Oud West for the moment and gather my thoughts.
We can't stop here! This is Whale country!
