OUR HOMESTEAD - Now Featuring Duck Eggs!

For some time now, we have been raising chickens as a way to provide our own eggs.

Now, though, we have ducks too, since a neighbor gave us some! It took them a while, but they are now laying eggs too!

If you look in the middle of the bottom row in this carton, the two in the center are Muscovy Duck eggs.

Here you can see the size difference a little better.

Just like chicken eggs, duck eggs can be eaten. Also, since we have both female ducks and a male, we should be getting fertile eggs, which means that we can hatch out our own ducklings if we want!

Chores like collecting the eggs every day are indeed chores, but they can also be fun, and the @little-peppers enjoy it!

Have any of you ever eaten duck eggs for food? We tried some, but haven't cooked any of our own yet. @Papa-pepper hopes to hatch some soon so that we can have more ducks. If we do, we will keep you posted!

Here is a photo of the ducks.
