You thought it was only on your TV, but I will walk you through our very own SCI-FI movie and we are all living it right now...
First things first, words matter to me, there are many nouns assigned to scientific theories or objects that seem to lead us in the wrong direction. How about an example, because we all love examples, examples help us comprehend a complex subject that would otherwise be out of our grasp. Anti-matter.... maybe this word makes sense to a physicist, but personally I find it infuriating. Anti-matter implies the opposite of matter. Do we all concur on that one? OK, well anti-matter is not the opposite of matter, it's the opposite charge of a similar structure of matter. I use the word similar, because there is an obvious difference in the charge of electrons and protons, but we've yet to find a physical or behavioral difference beyond that, except that 1 minus 1 equals zero.
Anyway trying to stay out of the weeds here, I'm more interested in the discussion of ideas than the reviewing of the math. Math is going to help you better understand your idea, but the idea...
Bottom line anti-matter is not anti-matter it's oppositely charged matter, there is still just as much matter there. Wrong words, make it difficult to understand. So if you have anti-matter and plug it into E=MC^2, M is going to be greater than 1.
Dark Matter on the other hand, now that is interesting. Minus the name of course, because wow that is a really descriptive name. If I plugged Dark Matter into E=MC^2, M is going to be a negative number. The true anti-matter is Dark Matter, you know if words are meant to accurately describe what they're referring to.
Let's go down the rabbit hole a bit on the implications of Dark Matter, because we have just entered a Sci-Fi movie in reality. E=MC^2 proves to us that Mass and Energy are the same thing. The amount of energy (E) in an object is the mass (M) of the object times the speed of light squared (C= constant 9*10^16 roughly). So if mass and energy are the same thing, what else has an effect on energy?
Gravity attracts two masses together, meaning attracts energy together. So what will happen if energy (E) is a negative number? Well it wouldn't be attracted to an object. The effects of gravity are completely meaningless to negative energy. Here's the catch though, what is it attracted to? If we produce negative energy or caused an object to believe it is negative energy would it be attracted to space and where at in space?
So now you may be asking well how do I get my hands on this negative energy so I can test it? Well that I can't tell you and even if I did you wouldn't see it, but maybe I can do one better.
Matter talks.... All matter no "matter" how big or how small, has a voice and its being talked back to. What if we stopped the communication though? And started talking to the matter with our words? What if we told it that Earth doesn't exist? What if we told a cup of water to exchange it's oxygen atoms for multiple carbon atoms?
I have never attempted to do this, except in my own mind, but someone else did and Up became Down, Solids became Liquids, Water became Fire. Particles broke apart and disintegrated, because we told them to.
