Greetings, Steemians and Steemettes!
I ended up having an unexpected long day today. After finishing work at my new job, I had an appointment with an old friend of mine. We haven't seen each other in quite a long while, mostly because she spend a huge part of last year in america but also because she and I have been busy doing things.
Today, we managed to meet each other and we talked about all the things two people could talk about after such a long time. That in itself took quite a long while, but that isn't the topic I will show you more about. No, instead, I want to present to you a pretty beautiful thing we came by that would end up making our upcoming days a bit more enjoyable.

Books are awesome!
You reading this post have been around the blog for a while now. Thus, you probably know that I like books. Reading is awesome, arguably one of the greatest skills humans thought themselves in their entire course of history. As evidenced by you reading this post right now.
Since I have been a kid, reading has always been a big part of my life. It started with comics of all kinds but soon ended up branching over to books of all genres. Different kinds of fantasy were what especially caught my eye, especially if it was able to intertwine with our present time. At the end of the day, we are probably all dreamers. Or have been at some point. These days, I also like to read more actually useful books that teach skills or share interesting knowledge.
All the more sad it is when life makes making reading a daily habit hard. Especially now that I am an official part of the working force again, I noticed that time constrains are more of an issue than ever and, of course, depending on your pay grade, you can't always afford all the books you will never have time for to read anyway.
Not everything is terrible!
If you don't have enough time to read.....well that part is up to you. It's your life after all, make your time as valuable to others as it is for yourself, that should help. The problem regarding books and money can be dealt with and today, I will present you the solution that you may or may not have seen already but probably never used yet. And no, I am not talking about a library.
Let me present you the bookcase!
Sexy bookcase photo taken by my friend because her photo taking skills succeed mine by far.
We have these things standing around in pretty much all the major cities. I don't know how it is in other countries, but according to my friend, at least New York seems to have several. This one right here used to be an old phone booth. Kids these days probably never knew these existed. Here in germany, they used to have a very penetrating yellow color. They were basically everywhere, but have been replaced by more slick designs. These days, thanks to smartphones being smartphones, they are pretty much all but gone.

This is the same phone booths turned bookcase just shortly after it changed jobs. Already has a couple books in it and this nice flower box at the side, but still rocking the typical vibrant yellow phone booths were known for. Has a certain nostalgic charm to me looking at it.
What's so special about this thing?
Excellent question, my dear reader! As a firm believer of the golden rule "Don't tell, show!", let me help you take a look of what is inside now,
That's a huge load of books! And the beauty of it all is that they are all free to take! Everyone who walks by is able to just go in and take some books he finds interesting with him. On top of that, you are also allowed, even asked to leave some books behind so that others can read them. My friend and I both love to read, so we decided to take a couple books with us that looked promising. Take a look at the rich loot we took with us!
Books arranged and photographed by my friend again. You should thank her for providing me with all these nice pictures for you!
The book at the front caught my attention immediately because I fell in love with this awesome style of the cover. It contains two criminal stories, so I am looking forward to reading those. If they end up being to my liking, I will let you know at a later date. The other books cover different topics, but should all end up being worth our time as well. We didn't carry any books with us when we came around, but I intend to leave some books of mine when I pass by another time. There is also one of these near my working place. Quite convenient. I do think this one has more flavor. And, of course, it stands in my hometown, so I have to show some patriotic feelings for that as well. Overall, this very long day of mine ended up being quite enjoyable.
