Re-homing Your Dog? Prepare for Internet Hazing.

I've decided that there is nothing funnier and more out of control than a dog "re-homing" post on our local classifieds.  The amount of judgement, uncalled for rudeness and hate spewed by the general public and self proclaimed gate keepers of all things dog adoption related (aka Dog Nazis) just makes for a down right entertaining read.

I don't take dog ownership lightly and I am well aware of the plight of unwanted dogs. In my small neighborhood, if life changes or hands you unexpected circumstances... and you are going to have to re home your dog, be prepared for everyone to tell you how they feel about the said re-homing, your life, the breed of dog you own, whether or not your life is really bad enough to allow you to re-home the dog with or without judgement.

In the most recent addition on our FB classified, new parents of a 3 week old baby found the dog will not quit barking and acting aggressive toward the baby.  After having a trainer come over every day for a week, the dog still doesn't like the baby and the heartbroken parents decided to re-home the dog... IN FAVOR OF KEEPING THE BABY.  As a neighbor reading the ad, I was sad for the people and their dog.  Apparently, I didn't realize the community has a responsibility to shame and harass these people during a difficult time and a difficult decision.

Seriously, what happened to tolerance?

Everyone needs a big dose of mind your own business.
