Black Friday and Consumerism

Hello everyone!

Tomorrow is Black Friday here in Serbia, another thing we "adopted" from America. Last few years there's more celebrations of the Halloween, which is not a holiday here but more of an excuse to organize costume parties at cafes, pubs, clubs or private parties. I've also noticed that every year now we have Black Friday sales and discounts even though we also don't celebrate Thanksgiving here.

As someone who appreciates minimalist mindset and lifestyle way more that pointless consumerism, I don't really care for Black Friday that much. Yes, some discounts are awesome but if I don't really need something, I won't buy it just because it's x amount cheaper than usual. There was a time when I used to buy some things than I thought are cute or I would use them, just because they were on sale - some purchases were good, some were fail. Now I'm trying to be more aware and conscious about what I bring to my space and my life.

There is also a new mall opened recently in my city and most people I know already went to "see what's going on" and with Black Friday sales, I can only imagine how crowded it's going to be tomorrow and over the weekend. I am planning to check out the mall when it's less crazy since it's on the way to my friend's place so I can stop by. But I'll definitely stay away from stores tomorrow!

How do you feel about Black Friday and lack of mindfulness when it comes to shopping?
