The smaller vape on the right is the Boundless CF vapourizer. It's engineered in the USA and retails for approximately $200 Canadian.
The larger vape on the left is the Mighty. It's made by Storz & Bickel, is engineered in Germany and retails for approximately $580 Canadian.
Both these vaporizers are very portable and both have a long battery life which minimizes the need for frequent charging between sessions.
Storz and Bickel is well known for their table top vaporizers, specifically their "Volcano", which holds the title of best table top vaporizer and is used as the gold standard when measuring vape production. Every vaporizer (portable or tabletop models) are compared to the Volcano.
In case you've never seen one, the cone shape, stainless steel appliance, on the table is the "Volcano".
Once it's loaded with dry herb, it fills plastic vapor bags with vapor. The vapor is white in colour and is what is given off from the herb when the vaporizer heats it. Nothing is on fire when a vaporizer is used and most vaporizers have multiple temperature settings to choose from. Usually the hotter the temperature, the harsher the vapor is on the throat. The contents of the bag is then inhaled through the mouth by the intended user.
(This is the biggest filled vapor bag I have ever seen and it was shared with multiple people. I took this photo in the Vape Lounge, at the Lift Cannabis Expo in Toronto, May 2016.)
I've taken the tops off both vapes so that you can see inside. Both bowls are quite deep and you can see how similar the design of each model is.
Here's the Boundless CF after a vaping session has been completed. Notice the colour of the plant material in the grinder is green, once it has been vaped it turns a golden brown colour and you can see this inside the vape's bowl. I always save my previously vaped bud because it still contains active medicine and it can be used to make an edible or topical.
Toasted, perfectly decarbed, vaped bud.
Previously vaped bud that I am storing in a glass sealer jar for another cannabis project in the future.
The bowl is clean and I'm getting ready to reload or gently pack it with fresh dried herb. The trick is not to pack the bowl too tightly so that you can draw or inhale the vapor easily.
A wee little funnel, that makes loading the vape super easy with ground herb.
Loaded with just the right amount of Blue Dream, an Indica dominant hybrid coming in at 15.5 % THC.
With the top back in place, I have turned the vaporizer on. This vaporizer has 5 preset temperature settings. The lowest setting is 355 degrees F and it goes up to 415 degrees F at its highest preset. You'll notice the Mighty has a digital display the Boundless doesn't. Instead, the Boundless has lights which mark each preset temperature setting as you toggle through to select the temperature that you want to set it at. It does remember your last temperature setting which enables you to pick up right where you left off. The Boundless takes 8 seconds to reach the selected temperature.
It's quick!
I normally can get 18 individual inhalations from one bowl. The flavour is like sipping on fruity herbal tea and the vapor from Blue Dream produces both a gentle head high with a medium body high. It is relaxing and sedative.
So far, I have tried 6 different vaporizers.
My favourite, by far, is the Boundless CF.
At $200 the Boundless holds its own against the Mighty at almost a $600 price point or triple the price.
If you are looking for a very good quality vaporizer at an affordable price, I highly recommend adding the Boundless CF to your list of vapes to check-out.
I welcome your comments and invite you to follow me on my journey.
