The encounter
Already in the afternoon after Mindy finished her work, she approached the Mall, where the woman with the mysterious call was waiting for her. As he got closer he recognized her immediately since she was one of the people who frequently appeared in the photos her father showed her. When she asked him who he was, he always responded evasively.
When she approached the table where the woman was, she invited her to sit down, at the moment she presented herself saying that her name was Angeline, she said that she felt very sorry for the bad moment that they were both going through but she had to present the truth of what had happened during his father's absence.
When Mindy heard Angeline's apology, her curiosity was immediate, she loved her father very much and perhaps she could forgive him knowing this hidden truth.
The woman with a serene voice began to narrate the misadventures that her father, Thomas, had gone through before she was born, his life for that time changed completely when he was ruined and had to pay prison and trial for a crime that did not commit.
Mary, Angeline's mother who knew him at the time, helped him with the lawyers and the judge so that they reduced the sentence, which they changed for probation, on condition that he did not leave the territory of the island where he was.
The accusation
Thomas was a kind and strong man, he was always telling anecdotes of his travels and telling them to his friends. Being the night of the tragedy, some men arrived badly faced began to disturb the tranquility of the place. Soon the parishioners began to bother and fight with them. Seeing all this, Thomas decided to intervene, suddenly a shot rang out and one of the men was badly wounded, his friends addressed Thomas, who without knowing what to do took a bottle and broke one of them in the head. leaving this unconscious. The police soon appeared at the scene and when they saw Thomas they took him prisoner on a preventive basis.
Meanwhile, the wounded were transferred to the hospital where one of them died. The other badly wounded man was still taken a statement. Everything that happened at that time was very confusing. Angeline's mother Mary worked at the site and witnessed everything that happened.
At the beginning of the investigations, everything indicated that Thomas was one of the culprits in the death of that man, more than a month in detention while the investigations continued, his health began to decline. Mary knowing that he was innocent always brought him some additional food. Always grateful to her, he didn't have the ways to make up for it but only by maintaining a good disposition.
Trial day
The trial began and all the witnesses began to testify the facts. Many to the questions of the jury answered in an ambiguous way that did not allow establishing the facts adequately.
Finally, after several days and deliberating the best for everyone, it was decided to preventively raise the accusation against Thomas, doing so on a conditional basis.
Mary was happy about what had happened, that man that she considered an angel for her life finally saw the sunlight again. Knowing that he had no place to stay because he was penniless, he offered that for a few days he could stay with her at home.
Thomas, with his head down, accepted that this was part of his destiny.
