We all know that nothing is as soothing as a warm home cooked meal and maybe even a nice hot beverage afterwards. Would it not be wonderful if that very same meal could help you get rid of some physical ailments?
Well by spicing it up, it actually can. Nearly everyone suffers from pain every now and then, however some suffer from chronic pain, that can very often be debilitating.
Here are some spice that can be incorporated into meals and teas to aid in pain relief:
Turmeric:
This is a very diverse spice that is readily used in Indian cuisine, but can just as easily be used in every day cooking. It can be added to salad dressings, stews, pots and soups to name but a few, and adds desirable flavour to the food when you do so.
Turmeric has high anti-inflammatory properties, and with inflammation being one of the number one causes of pain, Turmeric remains one of the keepers.Willow bark:
Willow bark can be directly compared to the active ingredient that we find in aspirin today.
Although this might not be a attribute in the culinary world, it makes for a great pain stilling tea. Willow bark can be brewed in with your favourite tea to serve both as an after meal treat as well as a pain stiller.Ginger:
One of my personal favourites, Ginger. This spice is one of the most diversely used culinary spices not only because it can be used in just about any culinary dish ranging from sweet to savoury, as well as an assortment of divine teas, but also because of its wide spectrum of medicinal properties including the fact that it is a powerful anti-inflammatory, meaning that it is a great attribute to p in relief.
So next time in stead of reaching for the medicine cabinet, spice it up in stead
