Bug found in steemd mining code has been fixed, but is it worth to restart your CPU miner node ?
In his recent post, @picokernel explained how a major bug in the mining code has been found and how it can be corrected.
Story made short, before the fix, whatever the number of threads you allocated to you node, it behaved as if there was only one thread. Then imagine if you allocated 16 threads, mining with the fixed code is mining with a 16x power boost.
So did some CPU miner who restarted their mining node. But is it worth ?
The real impact of steemd bug fix
As you can see, the effect of the fix effect is real, but really negligible
Let's look closer at the numbers :
Before the fix, we had an average of 0.42% pows found by the group "Others"
After the fix, we are at average 1.30%
In value, the is a change around 10 more pows per day for the "Others" group.
The group of lucky miners who have found a pow the last 3 days is composed of 15 miners out of a total of 52 having their node running since the beginning of this month, with an minimum of 4 and a maximum of 9 lucky miners per days.
Everyone wants to be the 21th block producer

Personally, I feel running a CPU miner is now like playing roulette.
You're not guaranteed to win but you still have a (small) chance to.
Will you be the lucky one ?
