I thought the competition between rabbit and supercomputing to own the mining queue was over, but some surprising changes occurred last days
Stats for the first half of October
As stated in my previous post, starting from 2nd of October, supercomputing was the king of the queue with more than 75% of all pows. I even noticed a slow but constant raise of his mining power to near to 80%.
Unexpectedly, from the 13th of October, his power mining has fallen down to 60% and below.
What happened ?
I don't have any clue on why this change and my first thought was rabbit has found a way to optimize his GPU mining code and make this impressive counter-strike. Unfortunately, rabbit never discovered himself on any chat or forum and that's only supposition from me.
Golos mining queue also threatened by GPU miners
Golos, the Russian version of Steemit is actually in test phase before the final launch that will should happen tomorrow. Many previous CPU miners, viewing this as an opportunity to be back in the race, have reactivated their mining node and test them on the current Golos testnet.
After finding a bug in Golos, the testnet blockchain was reinitialized the 15th of October and look what happened :
It only took one day for gtx-1080 (aka supercomputing aka nobody) to jump in and grab as many pow as possible. Nobody confirmed his takeover on steemit.chat, including his thought on GPU mining :
This might also explain why supercomputing mining power has fallen down on the steemit blockchain has nobody has to reallocate part of his power to the Golos blockchain.
Not that much
But if look closely at the following zoom from the introduction chart, you will notice that supercomputing has only a small decrease of his mining power on the 16h of October
Has nobody prepared his Golos invasion from the 13th of October?
Why hadn't all resources been allocated back to steemit until final launch of Golos?
Did I made a mistake when believing at first rabbit was striking back?
I don't have the answer to all these questions right now ... future will tell.
