Hello again, First I wanted to thank everyone again for all their support, you guys are awesome. A few of you have asked me about Organic modeling so I have decided to do a small series on the subject. The Galapagos tortoise project I did ages ago. I am lucky enough to have some documentation on it. One might not see a Tortoise as a monster, however, modeling one correctly is the same process that you would use on any monster.
I was sitting just doodling away and this thing was pooped out.

After I drew her I just had to model her. Now when an artist has an impulse to commit large amounts of time to a whim it's totally natural, before you do though you want to make sure you know what you are doing. So I gathered reference from around the internets, and started drawing up information I could not get anywhere else.

Having an understanding of a creature's bones and muscles can only help you create your monster. Failing to get an understanding of mass and movement will make your creature feel like it is floating, top heavy, goofy, and overall not appealing.
Okay, now we have an understanding of what the creature feels like. Now it is time to put a block out together to get an idea of mass.

It is beyond important to make sure that your model edges flow correctly. Unsurprisingly this is called "edge flow". If you want your creature to move correctly you have to remember that polygons do not bend they fold at their edges. Here is some simple edge flow for the shell dude. Make sure you look at the eyes if they do not have rings around them the eyes and mouth will not shut. One other thing to keep in mind is to keep the lines and edges as even as possible and to make sure only to use them when it adds information.

After this you have to take the uved model and put it into a sculpting program like Zbrush or Mudbox. If you guys want I will do a sculpting video for you guys.

Now tell me she is not a monster.
If this series gets some traction I will do a texturing tutorial!
