Sometimes being at work means that you are waiting. Waiting on orders, waiting on patients in my case, waiting to go home whatever. We are Caribbean, we are fun people, we tend to make stuff moving and shaking. Not always does that mean that it is a good thing, political wise there is way too much shaking here at the moment in Sint Martin. But today I am talking about a good vibed shaking.
Good music, with good vibes! We put on a song from a local artist from here, which immediately made everybody back ready for carnival.
The lyrics of the chorus, you will like this!
I need to know who yuh fuh before I push up on your bumper
I need to know who yuh fuh before I ask you for yuh number
I need to know who yuh fuh before I push up on yuh bumper
I need to know, who yuh fuh, who yuh fuh, who yuh fuh
What this basically means: To who do you belong, before I start to dance up to you. Who do you belong to, before I ask for your number.
This sentence is sooooooooo often used here in Sint Martin, escpecially during carnival when a extremely large amount of babies is conceived.
Last Sint Martin carnival I was proud owner of a booth in the festival village in Sint Martin. That means I was working 17 day 17 hours a day, and selling food and drinks, and enjoying all shows to the fullest. Every day when I was doing preparations there, this song would always come around the corner. And no matter how tired I was, this song got me shaking again, and ready to rumble for the rest of the day.

I cannot let this song pass by, without thinking about Sint Martin carnival. If you ever have the chance to experience this: Good music, good food, sun, feathers and lots of moving people, make sure you drop by sometime here in Sint Martin.
You will be welcomed with open arms!
