It's been 50 years since the Beatles released their classic album, 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band' in the year 1967. It was a career defining album from the group in many ways. The album later turned out to be an indicator to the direction the group would take in terms of their sound, but it also indicated what direction rock and roll was to take henceforth.
It was an album full of experimentation, musically as well as technically, because some new innovations in recording technology were used to produce it. One of these was the new 'invention' which allowed the recording of voice in two tracks, changing the sound, and giving a much richer texture to the music, the likes of which had not been achieved prior to this. The difference was so glaring that it has been improved further and the basic techniques are in use even today.

So, considering the popularity and impact of the album, it seems the Beatles are planning on marking the occasion with a big bang! If some reports in the news are to be believed, it looks like plans are afoot to release an expanded edition of the album which shall consist of a six CD version.
Though not for sale here on Amazon India, I understand it is available as a 'super deluxe edition' in other markets. If the rumours are true, I know I will buy a set, as these songs hold a lot of memories for me personally, and I suspect it does the same for a lot of people from a few generations out there.
Check the video below and I shall leave you with my favorite lines, from my favorite song on the album, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, written by John Lennon and Paul Mccartney!!
Follow her down to a bridge by a fountain
Where rocking horse people eat marshmallow pies
Everyone smiles as you drift past the flowers
That grow so incredibly high
Newspaper taxis appear on the shore
Waiting to take you away
Climb in the back with your head in the clouds
And you're gone
