Cures for Psoriasis, Echinacea, Pink Fireweed, Chia and Chaga: The World is Full of Natural Medicines!

Hey up, Steemfolks and NM lovers! What a week! It's been amazing on Natural Medicine and we've totally loved all the awesome-ness coming through!

Some fantabulous news this week - @tribesteemup, via @kennyskitchen, delegated 1000 SP to the @naturalmedicine account. @sagescrub also made a 100 SP delegation too, which means our VP is able to serve you guys more! And that's what it's all about, y'all, gathering this community together to learn and understand more about natural medicines. We've got over 45 people in our Discord server now and you can find a wealth of information in there just by searching within the channels. Want to know how to make a tincture or find out what elderberry is good for? To learn about water kefir or EFT? All the reading you'll ever need will soon be in this channel and we need YOU to add to it!

We've also started 'The Interview Sessions' where we interview Steemians about their natural medicines, and we've now done two 'Unearthed' posts where each NM member earned over 2 steem for their old posts, being recycled here on the blockchain so we all can learn from these buried wisdoms!

This week's awesomeness is ... well, pretty bloody awesome.

How I healed psoriasis naturally in two weeks

image.png

Let's start with @eco-alex, founder of ecotrain and @naturalmedicine's brother. He talks about healing his psoriasis in two weeks. We love his defination of natural medicine:

Nature's medicines are miraculous, and nearly all our modern medicines are based on natural cures that have been commercialised. Plants and herbs contain powerful medicines and have not all been discovered. Therefore we should always be open to trying natural methods first, unless its a life threatening situation, and see if you can empower your body to heal.

Suffering bad exzema as a kid, his Mum sent him to the Dead Sea for some salt water healing. He writes that 'salt is very good at drawing out toxins through the skin, and when in high enough concentrations, can literally suck toxins from your entire body through your skin very visibly'.

The Treasured Traditional Medicine of Fireweed

It was a bit of a pink week this week with beetroot, rhubarb and fireweed popping up in three consecutive posts! We adore @walkerland's posts because she takes photos with a REAL camera, not a cameraphone. But her adoration of fireweed's properties and her love of this pretty herbal medicine shines in this post too. She writes:

Fireweed is a traditional medicine among many indigenous peoples. The whole plant, roots, stem, leaves and flowers, are used for a wide range of healing and culinary purposes. This plant is simply fascinating to study! Fireweed is best known as a healer of burns, including those of mother earth. Whenever forest fires have devastated the land, fireweed will appear. Their beautiful magenta flowers will spread across the injured land beginning the healing process.

Chia Seeds Superfood Explained

Read @zen-art's explanation of this great protein source here. Food as medicine is awesome! She writes:

Chia seeds have a lot of antioxidants and most researchers agree that antioxidants fight the production of free radicals, which would otherwise damage cell molecules and contribute to aging and diseases. Chia seeds are also considered a low-carb food since the most of the carbs in them are fiber so if you are avoiding or taking care of your carb intake, chia seeds are safe to include in your meal.

Echinacea: Prescription for Immunity

@creadordelfuturo is a natural medicine enthusiast, writing two posts for the #naturalmedicine tag this week! Like @sagescrub, she talks about making a tincture, and the benefits of echinacea. She introduced herself as suffering from fibromyolagia:

I am vegan and really treat my consumption as seriously as possible. I lead a comprehensive and in-depth analysis on everything what I eat, what I drink, what I use for the hygiene of my body. This approach allows me to live for several years without pain. Since childhood, I have suffered from a mysterious illness, which was given a name several years ago - FIBROMIALGIA. ... this is when all the medical examinations and tests say that you are healthy, at a time when you feel constant pain in all parts of the body and sure that you are dying. Your muscles are affected by painful spasms and your joints ache from the slightest load. You experience daily headaches and attacks of chronic fatigue. You suffer from food intolerance to many foods and from irritable bowel syndrome. That's how I lived for many years - but now everything is different.
