International Worker's Day + My Brother's Birthday

This post was suppose to be published last night but after a long day, I ended up falling asleep at 10pm, lol. May 1 is a public holiday here in Serbia - International Worker's Day and it's also my brother's birthday. It is common for people to go camping for a few days or at least spend the May 1 in nature.

A lot of people from the city go to the surrounding villages, usually next to the Danube river for camping/picnic or at someone's weekend cottage. It's usually families or groups of friends. 7-ish kilometers from where I live there is an area by the river that is the "hot spot" for this day. Since my sister in law, niece and nephew who live abroad (my other brother's family) are here in Serbia at the moment, we all thought that it would be nice to go to the nature so we can have a BBQ, kids can play and we can all enjoy some nature vibes.

My dad and brother were the ones who packed all the stuff the night before, got up early, went to find a spot and set up everything - table, chairs, BBQ, a tent for the kiddos so they can sleep (which didn't happen lol)... I went there around 10am and I got to play with my nieces and nephews again.

On both sides next to us there were other people - on one side men and women, probably family members and/or friends. On the other side there was a group of young guys and girls, who also had a nice music setup so we didn't have to bother with that, it was loud enough for us as well, haha.

In the early afternoon, more family friends came and when the lunch was ready, we all found spots to eat - mine was on the blanket, with a plate on my lap where I got to chill a little bit after all the food. Since it was hot and sunny, portable little fridge was the best thing that day to keep the drinks cool. Coffee was also on the "menu".

Later on my brother and his wife drove to the house quickly to bring the cake and after that I think that everybody wanted to take a nap except the kids, of course. After some chill time and more playing with the kids, I went for a short walk nearby and took these photos.

It was almost 6pm when I came home with my mom and dad. An hour or so my brother and his family came home with a couple of friends and the rest of the crew went to their homes.

It wasn't even 9pm, I was already in my PJ's and I finally went to bed at 10pm when I couldn't keep my eyes open anymore. It was a lovely day with the family in nature. I even got a little bit of tan on my arms, haha.

I would love to hear from you - is there International Worker's Day in your country as well? It would be interesting to hear your camping experiences as well since I never went camping. :D

Thank you for reading!
