Harvesting From the Wilds of Northern Saskatchewan - Part 1

I feel blessed with the abundance of wild food that grows around us so I decided to share some of what I've been harvesting with my friends on Steemit.

Early spring I tap the birch trees for a refreshing spring tonic!

You can harvest the rose hips all year long. I usually harvest in the fall before the frost but it's good to know there is a food source when their is snow covering the ground.

The Labrador tea is another plant that can be harvested in the winter, it stays evergreen.

The fiddle heads are plentiful in the forest here too.

Come June it is morel mushroom picking time and I can harvest some of the first greens of the season - nettles.
