As summer is upon us, there is a succession of blooms happening in the Boreal forest of Saskatchewan. Enjoy!
In an opening where the horses are grazing the wild Black-eyed Susans bloom!
The bees are enjoying theses blossoms too!
The fireweed is another flower that the bees enjoy. Me too as they add such beauty and color to the open spaces.
We have a lot of Fireweed growing in the ditches - Beautiful!
One of the favorite flowers of the bees is the wild Hyssop - I have a domesticated Anise Hyssop (flower looks the same but it has a licorice flavor..) Very nice in teas.
The Hyssop is another flower that gows quite plentifully in the ditches.
Wild Honeysuckle vine.
This too is a type of honeysuckle - more of a bush type.
One last picture with JJ, my buddy who loves to tag along with me in my walks through the forest.
The path behind JJ is the path to our house. I planted the golden willows to soak up some of the moisture in the bog beside the trail.
Hope you enjoyed the post and let me know in the comments if you have any questions or comments about the flowers of the Boreal Forest.
