Our planet is in danger and you handle flag wars - Come on Steemit!

We destroy the Earth but consider Whale Fights more important?

Mankind is destroying the beauty of Earth and especially the natural resources we need to make sure our kids and grandchildren can still live on this beautiful planet. Whales, Dolphins and Minnows are also affected by the destruction of our natural resources and environment.

Great Barrier Reef just an example

The Great Barrier Reef is a collection of thousands of smaller coral reefs stretching from the northern tip of Queensland to the state's southern city of Bundaberg. The Reef was given World Heritage status in 1981 and is the "most biodiverse" of all the World Heritage sites according to the UN.
While mainly human threads are destroying the reef there are also threads by Nature and Cyclical ones such as Coral bleaching and the El Nino effect which results in an increase of water temperatures. But it is mainly us responsible for this sad drama. The Reef is suffering from the following Human Threats:

1) Shipping accidents

2) Oil Spills

3) Over-fishing

4) Tourist visits

Humans have destroyed a tenth of Earth's wilderness in 25 years

According to a study by experts from the University of Queensland and Wildlife Conservation Society the largest chunk of wilderness in the Amazon basin shrank from 1.8m sq km to 1.3m sq km. In addition moist forests in the west of the Amazon was badly affected, dying forests there is a major tragedy for the world given it happened despite deforestation rates slowing.

In Western Congo (Africa), none of the lowland forest - which is the home of most gorillas in the world - are globally significant wilderness anymore.

Alarm signs across the world that could lead to the destruction of our home planet. Just take this in relation to discussion about whales fighting each other on a social media platform.

Wake Up Steemians, wake up world!

It is all our task to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible and move away from fossil fuels to renewables. Let us protect our nature together. Now it is the Time!
