Damaged Spillway re-opened at Oroville dam

Dam operators re-opened the damaged spillway at 9:00 am today. They will be running about 35,000 cfs thought it for the next couple of weeks to deal with all the rain and snow melt that has occurred this month. They may need to increase the release to 45-50,000 cfs if inflows continue to be more than the out flows but the dam operators are reluctant to do that because they don't want to damage the spillway anymore.

It's a wait and see game right now. If the spillway holds up they should get through the snow melt this spring with no problems but if it doesn't then they may be forced to evacuate people again.
