That is a verification photo since I am a newbie.
You can check my Facebook or Instagram profile, whichever you prefer. Do not let that baby face deceives you, I am 28 years old.
As you see from the date above in the picture, I was planning to write a blog post on that day, but it happened that I lost myself reading around Steeemit and for a moment I felt a bit intimidated. Okay, I felt totally, completely intimidated.
There is so much awesomeness around.
For a moment I thought "Dang, what the heck I am doing here? I got nothing to offer for this community. What I am doing with my life?".
So for the last 2 days, I have been thinking so hard about what I can write, what value I can add to this site, how can I be cool and write stuff so people can like me, which target audience should I select for my blog posts etc etc.
And then it hit me. I am not here to compete with anybody, I am not here to do business. My absolute goals are to have fun, enjoy reading and expand my knowledge for a variety of topics. And if I decide to write a post, it will be for expressing my opinion about the things that I have passion about. And if someone upvote me, I really hope it's not just with the intention to increase my wallet digits. I don't care about the dollars, really. I do enough freelance work to pay my bills and food and help somehow my family and people that I love. Occasionally, I donate for causes that I really care about.
Steemit is a social media platform and it should be treated as such. There will be bullies, there will people that just want to drag you down because your post became viral overnight and there will be positivity that overcome all the negativity that is in here. Yes, I felt insecure but I choose to confront my fears and write this post instead. I will probably just post a meme or a .gif ( they can be funny, no?) because I like laughing and I would like to share, who knows it will someone's day. I will probably share a song that leaves me with goosebumps and I want people to know about it. I will express my frustration about my country's government and much more. And I will upvote makeup tutorials. What's so wrong about that?
Be yourself. Everyone else is taken. - Unknown
Write about things that are true to you and that's exactly what I intend to do. And if I don't have anything to write, it's cool. Steemit is still awesome and for the first time ever, there is a social media platform where time is valued and not wasted.
Sincerely
Thebluepanda
P.S: I will have to apologize ahead for any grammar mistake. English is not my native language. Another reason why Steemit is cool. It's motivating me to improve my writing skills.
