This an edited re-issue of one of my earliest posts (@darthnava/damn-philippine-tv-dramas-suck-ass) with a changed title, added words and the proper tags. I felt that I could make it just a little bit better.

I have observed and discussed this with family, friends, and acquaintances several times for the past few years. Even until now if the topic is about television. That Philippine television dramas really, really suck. You get only less than fifteen minutes of air time per episode while you get more than fifteen to twenty minutes of commercial advertisements of crappy products or services during that program's time slot.
So you think I am joking and just pulling your leg? I am damn serious. Just try watching one on local Philippine TV.
The mindless (and sometimes, way out of reality) crappy plots are worst. You always get:
A. The Poor boy/girl protagonist meets the rich girl/boy and they fall for each other.
B. The rich versus the poor scenarios is always the open or hidden theme.
C. The downtrodden/abused protagonist rises up against his/her oppressors/enemies/abusers and gets sweet revenge (Filipinos love the underdog).
D. Someone is always having an affair with someone else (WTF, are we Filipinos really that genetically horny?).
E. There's always some kind of a homosexual character in that drama (of course, maybe the script writer must be one so he has to insert his persona in the script).
F. A kidnapping incident usually occurs.
G. There is always an orphan or love child/bastard character.
H. All the above combined in the plot.
So if you are a poor Filipino who can't afford cable television or an internet connection then that is what you get on your local TV. It is quite amazing that the Filipino masses won't protest against this systematic garbage being fed to them every day. No wonder Korean TV dramas dubbed in Filipino are popular.
