Introduction
Many users have published their Supermoon photos. I was interested in trying to do something like that. But on November 14 it was very cloudy. There was not even a hint of moonlight through the clouds.
On November 15 the sky was clear. And I was determined that I should take a few moments to try to make pictures of the moon and the night sky.
It was cold in the evening. I had to dress warmly and place the camera in a bag on the balcony. To the lens is not fogged hitting the cold.
Shooting
I chose the shooting location spontaneously. I was driving the car and looked at the moon and the surrounding views. I decided not to go far. Arriving at the shooting location, I turned the tripod, installed the camera. And yes. I bought a intervalometer, which in this case I used as a cable release.
I had a problem in order to focus on. Because I almost can't see anything through the viewfinder in the dark. I don't have very good eyesight. And it's difficult to crawl from underneath to tilted camera in the eye glasses. A camera screen is also too small to show something in liveview mode. And it didn't show anything in the dark. Or maybe it's an excuse, and yet I have a little experience. 8)
In any case, part of the images sent to the trash.
Sometimes the car passed by what could prevent me to make good pictures. So I put the tripod in front of the hood of my car. And located myself nearby. So I myself was in safe and the headlights do not bother me.
At first I took a picture with the general view. And maybe this is the best shot of this evening.
Then I tried to shoot the moon closer.
Then even closer.
I also made a picture of the Big Dipper constellation. This is the one of a few constellations that I know and easy to find in the sky. I tried to make other pictures of a starry sky, but they don't come out focused.
The moon shooting
Of course I tried to make separate image of the moon. But I get a complete nonsense. No hint of any structure on the surface of the moon is not. Solid white spot. RAW processing is also not given anything. Here, you can laugh at the result of 8)
Bonus pictures
Wait a minute. I have not finished 8)
Since it was cold, and I'm sick, I could not be on the street too long. At the same time, I was not sure of the results of the shooting.
When I returned home, the moon has already risen above the roof of a neighboring house. And I had to try to do a few more pictures from the balcony. Here's what I got.
Сonclusions
Of course, it's not like those great clear pictures of the moon, where you can see a moon sea and craters.
But I definitely like the blue color of the sky in the moonlight, these optical effects of light of the moon on the latest photos. The last picture makes me some kind of cosmic experience.
I took pictures with the shutter speed of 30 seconds. And as you can see at some of the images it is clearly visible the movement of the stars.
By the way the movement is stronger, the greater the increase. This is logical. 8)
I conclude that I made the following errors:
- I used too long shutter speed.
- I should use the manual mode instead of the shutter priority mode.
UPDATE
After publishing this post I've got comments from @ocrdu and @shieha. First of all @ocrdu gave me some tips how to make a better shot of the moon with its moon seas and craters. So I made few shots with that tips. And here is what I've got.

It still funny because my lens have a little zoom. But now I know how to do it. And I can do it with better equipment.
So I want to say big thanks to @ocrdu, and another photographers at this platform for their help to other users!
