Strangest thing: I saw one of these for the first time this year, after many years of looking for them, and now I seem to encounter them everywhere without looking for them: the green hairstreak (Callophrys rubi), called groentje in Dutch:
Olympus Stylus 1s, 42mm, ISO100, f8, 1/400s
It seems you don't find what you are looking for, only what you are not looking for:
Olympus Stylus 1s, 135mm, ISO100, f8, 1/400s
Not that I am complaining; it is a very pretty little butterfly. This one didn't even sit ridiculously high up in a tree, unlike these ones I posted earlier, so I didn't have to climb up.
This afternoon, I will be searching for a very rare and elusive dragonfly called northern emerald (Somatochlora arctica), so I'll probably find something else.
