Autumn in Heidelberg | Herbst in Heidelberg [EN/DE]

I live only half an hour drive away from a German city called Heidelberg. This city is well known for its picturesque old town and the castle and very popular with tourists. However, Heidelberg has more to offer and I would like to show you some autumn pictures of the Thingstätte to get you in the mood for autumn.

Ich wohne nur eine halbe Stunde Autofahrt entfernt von einer deutschen Stadt namens Heidelberg. Diese Stadt ist sehr bekannt für ihre malerische Altstadt und das Schloss und bei Touristen sehr beliebt. Allerdings hat Heidelberg noch mehr zu bieten und ich möchte euch zur Einstimmung auf den Herbst einige herbstliche Bilder der Thingstätte zeigen.

The Thingstätte on the so-called Heiligenberg is an open-air theater, built by the Nazis after the model of ancient Greek theater. Unfortunately, the terrain is rarely used today, except for a special event, where I was also present 2-3 times.
On Walpurgis Night or Witch Night - that is the night of April 30th to May 1st, tens of thousands of people made the walk of about an hour up Heiligenberg to celebrate. There were always many drummers and especially fire artists to be found - for safety reasons, this unofficial event, was forbidden in 2017.[1]

Die Thingstätte auf dem sogenannten Heiligenberg ist ein Freilichttheater, erbaut von den Nazis nach dem Vorbild antiker griechischer Theater. Heutzutage wird das Gelände leider kaum genutzt, außer zu einem besonderen Event, bei dem ich auch schon 2-3 Mal anwesend war. Zur Walpurgisnacht oder Hexennacht - das ist die Nacht vom 30. April zum 1. Mai, pilgerten zehntausende Leute den Fußmarsch von ungefähr einer Stunde den Heiligenberg hinauf um zu feiern.
Es waren immer viele Trommler und vor allem auch Feuerkünstler anzutreffen - aus Sicherheitsgründen wurde diese inoffizielle Veranstaltung allerdings 2017 verboten.[1]

Going up the many steps and a short distance through the forest, you can also reach the ruins of the Michael monastery from the 9th century AD. [2]

Läuft man die vielen Stufen des Theaters hinauf und ein kurzes Stück durch den Wald, erreicht man außerdem die Ruine des Michaelsklosters aus dem 9. Jahrhundert nach Christus. [2]
