Thailand - Ayutthaya Part I

Located at the confluence of Chao Phraya and Pa Sak, the old town was in a meander of the river, intersected by a canal to make an island.

Plundered by the Burmese armies of King Bayinnaung in 1569, the city was destroyed by those of one of his successors Hsinbyushin in 1767, when General Taksin, who became King of Thailand, retreated 80 km to the south, downstream Of Chao Phraya, to found the new capital, Bangkok.

Its ruins were constituted in Historical Park of Ayutthaya. The new town was rebuilt a few kilometers further east.
