If You Check Out The View From my Balcony You'll Probably Understand me Better!
From my balcony looking north you see the Swiss Alps in the background including the Matterhorn!
What We See Can Affect Our Mood and Attitude!
I have written several articles on how what we look at can affect our moods and attitude. I have to admit that I haven't spent enough time really appreciating the beauty of what I see around me and vow to do so more.
Here it's cloudy and you can't see the Alps but it's still spectacular!
Complain Less And Appreciate More!
I realize that I am very blessed to be living where I am at the modest price that I pay to do so. I just had an old boyhood friend visit me here in Switzerland for the first time and his awe at what he saw around him made me want to share it with you. Allow me, please, to show you some more photos of some of the things that I see just about everyday as I look out my window or stand on my balcony.
Same view again as the sun goes down.
The sun continues to set but my mood continues to soar!
Looking in another direction we see a para-glider as he floats down from Monte Generoso!
Looking south we see the city of Como on the famous Lake of Como in Italy.
What Should We Do If We Don't Live in A Beautiful Place?
Of course I haven't always lived in such a beautiful place and if you don't either don't despair. When I lived in the big city I went canoeing in the wilderness at least once a year and visited local smaller parks on a regular basis. Remember, the sunrise, sunset and the skies themselves can also be a source of great inspiration!
What if There is no Greenery Anywhere to be Seen?
Studies have shown that even only three to five minutes spent looking at views dominated by trees, flowers or water can begin to reduce anger, anxiety, pain and promote relaxation. The benefits of seeing and being in nature are so powerful that even pictures of landscapes can soothe. Where there is no access to a garden even a photograph or a painting can have a positive effect! That's encouraging!
I hope that you enjoyed the view from my balcony!
Until next time,
