Sweet blossoms spill in drunken haze
Their scent of other worlds
Trembling wings arch and fold
As blushing buds unfurl
Sleeping heads stretch open wide
Beneath a jasmine moon
The forgotten hour of ethereal blush
Dusts basking night-bloom
A deeper bond drifts through the air
In streams of moonlight
The shadows soften to give way
As dragon coo take flight
The dragon-rose is a wild cousin of the dog-rose. It is not yet understood why the newly hatched dragon coo are drawn to the heady scent of the night blooming flower, but it is a sight to behold. This poem is inspired by these stunning baby dragons fluttering around the surreal night-blooming rose, casting dancing pale shadows in the white moonlight.
This is my entry to Random Games by @kristyglas - these come out every Thursday and have all kinds of different themes! The challenge this round was to write a poem inspired by this artwork, that includes the words, or synonyms for, sweet, night, hour, link. Entries have to be in by Wednesday so there is still time to give it a go!
Dragon Coo are baby dragons, this term is used to refer to immature dragons of any age. This sketch has been completed in beautiful detail by the well known artist @kristyglas who has dedicated her time to the study of these majestic creatures. She releases new sketches of breeds and subspecies she has encountered every sunday, so make sure to give her a follow!
