Why the clouds change colour - Poem

One day after work when I had some free time a friend provided me with a prompt to write a poem.

Why the clouds change colour

This first poem was written in 2 minutes and hasn’t been edited.

The Bridal Sun

The sun
It shines through a pearl veil
It breaches with colour
Pink then gold then violet
Only the rain makes the sky like charcoal
But on a quiet day
Nothing but white
Or nothing at all

They then challenged me to develop this poem further. As there has been the new Haiku contest by @bananafish out recently I decided to transform it into a haiku, however it turned into a three verse haiku.

The Bridal Sun - Haiku Edition

Dusk dusted pearl veil
Pink then gold then violet sky
And nothing at all

Stormless halcyon
Cloaks heavens quiet patter
Undisturbed stars

Morning mourning shawl
From charcoal to fair chroma
An untouched canvas

Thank You to @Calluna for the beautiful prompt.
