Rental Agreement – An Original Poem

Labored 30 years
to buy a rental with
a violent landlord known
on the streets as Uncle Sam.

Always watching
what we eat and drink, the
bear glares while the news
shows those caught unaware.

Examples are made
of broken tongues
and silence reigns
with peppered lungs.

Amber turns her head
as he abducts his fill,
a hoarder of people.
Who's mentally ill

Renting from thieves,
I pay before they take it away
with a gun on my back,
a homeowner on taxday.
