Cloaked in darkness,
wrapped in a cape,
waving a wand --
testing your faith.
Enchanting and charming
performing for the crowd,
lifting the veil --
enveloped in a shroud.
Deceiving the mind
with the lives of a cat,
transforming the present --
pulling a rabbit from a hat.
Eluding all laws
escaping from chains,
bestowing his gifts --
majestically he reigns.
Casting his spell
he summons the stars,
creating a vision --
raising the bar.
Conjuring illusions
reading your mind,
how is it possible --
did the stars realign...
Preying on your dreams
suspending belief --
defying your senses
although it is brief.
Making men disappear,
as we all laugh,
then while we gasp --
he sawed a lady in half.
Living in the shadows
levitating in a chair,
dancing with the devil
disbelievers beware.
Making magic isn't hard
we want to believe,
an escape from the world
and all we perceive.
Where rules don't apply
no need for despair,
a nod to the fairies --
...there's magic everywhere.
