A soldier lies in wait
Then brings the scope to his eye
Within him there is no hate
And yet a stranger must die
A bully stays out of sight
To ambush his prey
A little boy lives in fright
Dreading each and everyday
A daughter cringes in her room
At her parents shouts
Another life filled with gloom
Nothing in her heart but doubts
A desperate soul stares at nothing
As people pass with no empathy
He asks for change, for anything
But for a beggar there is no sympathy
A humanity turns on itself
Selfishly taking everything to own
Why can’t we forget about self?
And see we are not alone?
Notes: Well, this is one of my ancient poems (hence the rhyme scheme). Its goal is pretty self-explanatory, I think. I tried to mix and match various layers of conflict that simply don't make sense when zoomed out and explored objectively. We've got so little time on this planet, and we all share it together. It may be time to start acting like it.
Thank you for your attention, and I hope you enjoyed.
